I know there are other threads for Drk gear, but none of them have been touched in years. Drk forums seem rather dead so I am hoping people who scan the New Posts button will be able to help me out. ^.^`

Took a couple month break from FF and now getting back into things. I'm a little rusty and forgot really where I was going with my drk so I'm looking for advice before I try to relearn my job in a pt. ^.^`

Galka 64Drk. Subs: War/Nin/Thf/Sam. Drk is my highest job and I am the highest lvl of my friends, so no help on camping there. Also, my LS fell apart so if there are any Sylph LS leaders or officers looking for members, um, gimme a tell? >.<'

Equips

Main: Vassago's Scythe

Second: Mythril Grip+1

Range: Bomb Core

Head: Chaos Burgeonet (not sure what else to wear)

Neck: Royal Guard's Collar & Parade Gorget(between pulls)

Earrings: Beetle Earring+1(x2) Need to upgrade these. -,-'

Body: Haubergeon

Hands: Fourth Division Gauntlets

Rings: Woodsman Ring(x2)

Back: Amemet Mantle

Waist: Potent Belt

Legs: Royal Knight's Breeches

Feet: Dune Sandals (45 mp helps at start of fight) & Chaos Sollerets (not sure what else to wear)

For the way I used to play, aside from the neck and feet, I don't do any gear swapping. I'd start the fight w/ either an absorb acc or absorb int, then switch the feet, throw an absorb str or absorb acc before WS, aspir if I could, drain if I needed. Depending on tank and healer, I'd Drain2/Souleater before the WS if feasible. Stun if I or mage pulled hate. Put on dune sandals and parade gorget between mobs.

So ya, any advice on what gear to equip or about fighting style would be greatly appreciated.

Just wondering which type of food are you using? attack food, or sushi?

For earrings, i suggest Coral Earring x2 (very good price : performance ratio), or if you willing to spend on earring like Assault Earring, etc.

Get a pole grip. I know the mytril grip +1 sounds better but its not. I didn't believe it either until I got the pole grip. People might make comments about no Amemet Mantle +1 but screw them.......unless you can afford it then get it. Ya, I would go with an Assualt Earring like Celeal suggests.

I can't think back to when I was that level because it was 4+ years ago. LOL Plus there is so much new gear out there since then that anything I would suggest there is probably something better.

What Celeal and TGM said is great advice. You would be silly not to follow it.

It could be worth selling your Potent Belt and buying Amemet +1 if you can comfortably pay the difference (about 50k on Sylph) though. You'd lose 2 STR but gain 2 Accuracy and 3 Attack, and it would get the idiots that think Amemet +1 is an absolute must off your back (you're far less likely to catch flak for wearing Life Belt over Potent Belt than you would for going NQ Amemet.)

There isn't much room for improvement otherwise. Assault Earring is atrociously overpriced for what it does - basically paying almost 300k for 2 Acc. Valkyrie's Mask would net you some extra MP and 4 Attack, but you would lose 1 DMG from the 4 STR lost which would negate the improvement, and then you'd have inventory -1 and it'd be one more thing to swap in and out.

I usually bring both sushi and meat. If I'm hitting great w/ Sushi, I try w/out. If I'm hitting fine w/out, I'll use meat.

I'll see what I can swing for the Assault and the Amemet+1. Assault has jumped about 50k this last month, so I'll keep an eye on that. Trying to lvl dnc for solo sub so I've got some time to watch the market. ^.^` A while ago I was trying to bid on a +1 and accidently bought the nq for 130k. -,-' Was soooo angry. I'm back up to 700k again, but still.... Thats a lot of wasted cash. >,<'

Are there any other pieces I should keep an eye out for on my way up? Thick set still good or has that been usurped by newer gear? I'm thinking the Woodsmans should last me through endgame, or at least until I start meriting scythe. If I ever get that far. ^.^`

On your way to level 75, if part of your income comes from using Imperial points (like buy/sell Imperial Gold coins, etc), you may consider saving up for Walahra Turban (HP +30, MP +30, Haste +5%, rare/ex level 75)

The Thick feet and hat is a nice alternative for AF, and the price should be reasonable. If you spend a lot of time in Campaign Battle, the level 68 Fourth Division set is free (using Allied Notes instead of gil)

For Assault Earring or Amemet +1 (which are optional, imho), if you reach level 72+ without those, I would suggest invest directly on Dusk Gloves + Feet.

Ok, 65 Drk now w/ dnc out of the way. ^.^`Amemet+1, Coral Earringx2, Chiv chain are in the bag. Also, I'm about 1/2 or 3/4 done getting the Walahra Turban. Started that quite awhile ago so I don't remember exact turn in at the moment. ^.^'

I can't really see what other gear I should get on my way to 75. Hauby at 69 if I have the money for getting rid of the neg agi from Haubergeon. I am also torn because I have a war and pld coming up so I don't want to sell the Haubergeon just yet. -.-' Thick gear at 68. Now I just have to figure out what combo of Dusk and Black gear I want to burn all my money on. =.='

Also, what is the consensus on Molione's Sickle/Ring combo? Thats some heavy change to throw down, especially with the armor I'm looking to buy. I plan on sticking with Vassago's for now because I'm addicted to ACC, but I'm THINKING that Molione's would last me until the end, unless I pick up Martial Scythe when I go /sam to spam WS. ^.^`

And then there is the Brutal Earring and O.Hat to get. Oh man, why's Drk gotta be so expensive? =.='

Well times are a bit different since i stop playing about 2 years ago, but overall dark is only expensive at parts. While ranger and nin have to have constant stuff to maitain job upkeep, and war/nin and pld have to focus on what is better for the party setup, darks dont have that worry. There is a set point where something is standard...fing haub.....and the market knows this and those are massively expensive. I kinda shot myself in the foot by picking drk to follow off the bat and all the time working on gold smithing. Maybe if i ever pick the game back up i will play it different from the get go and mine as soon as i log lol. Good luck

I'd like to replace my Woodsman with a Rajas Ring, if I can ever get my static to work on CoP again. -,-'

I'll have the Walahra Turban next lvl, but I'm not sure what else I can use for a headpiece. With the Molione's set I don't need the AF for Enhance Souleater, but I just don't know what else I can get for that slot. Still no O.Hat. =.='

I eat Squid Sushi in parties and I usually go /war against Imps, which is all I've been fighting lately when I DO manage to get an invite. -.-`
