How about we start issuing infractions for crying "necro post" then, since you mods seem to object to people making new threads for old questions (which I don't disagree with btw) And yeah skill up both on DRK does suck but it early on GSD has much better skill chain options and better WS over all (Scythe has higher DPS mind you) Level Great Axe on your WAR (A+ weapon and it will come in handy on DRK; Shield Break is just that good for most of the game and Souleater works wonders with Sturmwind) and maybe keep Greatsword on the side when your GAX caps, then when you do DRK take your scythe up. Regardless of how you do it, just keep both capped or it may very well come back to bite you. |

Sound good thanks guys/gals. I didn't think it was a necro post though >.> it was still at the top of the page at the time... W/e I'll try the whole level scythe for two levels, level greatsword for two levels. I read that on here somewhere. I'll try experimenting with dual wielding eventually, if nothing else because I think it looks cool, so I'm willing to lose alittle dot for it. Last edited by illkurok; 12-27-2008 at 11:46 PM. |

My Mood: | Re: Great Sword or Scythe? Scythes kinda suck Weapon Skill-wise until Lv60. Great Swords Skillchain better but I've never seen a skillchain happen in a party after Lv30. I know a fair few people still skillchain when fighting NMs though because it's a nice chunk of instant damage. The best weapon for overall damage for DRK's before 60 are Great Axes. Shield Break combined with Acid Bolts is just plain broken considering that levels you can get them at. G Axes also have a very nice DPS compared to scythes and the G Axe Weapon Skills work well with Soul Eater because they are damaging but won't obliterate your health. You will want to keep Scythe levelled though. As soon as you hit 60 and get Guillotine you'll know why. EDIT: Don't dual wield on DRK, they don't have a brilliant choice in single handed weapons until later levels.

I guess I'll keep great axe leveled on the side. Getting the three weapons capped at the time time'll be annoying but i'll give it a shot. For exp parties the main two shouldn't be an issue. I guess I'll save dual wielding for later... Saves me the trouble of getting ninja til it would be better lol.

I'm not sure if Illkurok knows this but you can only dual wield single handed weapons so it's not much use in redards to Gaxe or Gsword. Allthough according to the wiki it says it has an effect on the delay of 2handed weapons. I didnt know that, Guess you learn something every day.

Nah I knew that. My secret goal in life is to try dual wielding hp drain swords.

I think more the MP drain than the HP though, with the whole DRK trying to tank getting you lynched thing... :/ from what I hear the players are worse than the mobs.

My Mood: | Re: Great Sword or Scythe? If you want to tank, level Paladin. One thing to remember about the community is that everyone who plays this game is out for themselves. Some might try to say that they like to help people with things, but that's BS. The willingness to help comes with the expectation that the favor will be repaid at a later date, similar to how the Mafia operates. Or Satan, depending on the individual. Keep that in mind when organizing a party, and try not to stray too far from the accepted norm due to the potential of wasting time.
