No, Dark knight (death knight) in FFXI is NOT a tanking class. It is primarily intended as damage dealing class. It doesn't have any big defense buffs and will easily be slaughtered by most mobs later on.

Ok that said and done. Drks No are not attended to tank, like the nins but the got around that with the shadows. Drks can tank, given you toss the att+ with the heavy def+ gear. at higher lvls with Drain II and dread spikes drks can tank at short bursts or trade the att for def we can be ok tanks...

But I didn't say drks are just saying drks 'can' tank just not as well as plds, nins, or wars
