It really depends on what your party needs. Monk/Dancer is pretty good for soloing, and I'm sure it would be useful if you needed extra healing and debuffing, but on a whole i'd say subbing warrior would be the best for straight Damage in a party.

Re: Will MNK/DNC be a good combo

he'll have to level warrior someday, it's a really useful subjob, it gives attack and defense bonus as traits, double attack, and berserk. dnc is good, but as a DD I don't see it stacking up to war

A job can have several/many useful /job's. Mnk/Dnc would be great for solo for sure. Also pretty decent in party IF you also need support. People forget about /Dnc enfeebles which are pretty nice and are not gimped from being used via /sub. Sure you can't Reverse Flourish them for TP but you can (if high enough) Stun and Gravity mobs. Get's ya thru zones undetected with Spectral Jig instead of wasting gil on nin tools or powders n' crap.

I think that there are more /subs Mnk could use as well. /War is regarded as the quintessential /sub for any melee to have and is truly incredible when you only want your DD concentrating on killing. Or if you have a crappy tank and need to play "Hate Potato" /Nin for surviving. Shadows help in many different scenarios and the ninjutsu Snk/Invis spells come in quite handy. /Thf for ... well... farming lol. I'm not familiar too much with Mnk myself but as an example for my Sam... I have... /Dnc /War /Nin /Thf so far and I could still use /Rng and /Drg depending on the "as needed" circumstances.

FYI - If he only has /Dnc people outside his Friend's list won't take him seriously or {invite to pary} ... they'll more than likely want a heavier hand.

Re: Will MNK/DNC be a good combo

I'd highly suggest leveling at least warrior, dancer, and ninja for the reasons neverslip mentioned. the only thing I'm disagreeing with him on is the stun, dancer doesn't get Violent Flourish until 40, so you can't use it as a sub. Unless I'm missing another way dancer can stun.

Re: Will MNK/DNC be a good combo

thanks for the info...
i did pass some of this info to him lastnight
he had played before and his mnk was 40 when i started now 50
he also has a war & nin... said he didnt like war... i think it was just cause he love the power of his mnk and playing a new class was abit different..

he said he seen a mnk/dnc take a NM solo and i thinnk thats why he wants /Dnc thinking its powerfull... i i guess for solo it is awesome but in the party if he wants to stay DD it would be better for /war... well he got the WOG cd lastnight so i see soon what he gose with lol lol

Re: Will MNK/DNC be a good combo

From what I seen nowadays the front-line roles can be mixed, instead of pure-DD to the extreme or pure-tank, etc. What is fun about MNK/DNC as DD in exp. parties is MNK/DNC can do useful things while waiting for 100% TP -> WS. For example, two or more /DNC or DNC can stack the same Step to level 5 faster, or split the workload with different Steps.

At higher level if the MNK is well geared, the MNK can also perform well with /NIN, /THF, /DNC besides /WAR.
