You would be correct, Balfree. The only other jobs that come to mind are RDM/NIN or BRD/NIN with Blau Dolch/Joyeuse for Evisceration spam (which is a heck of a lot better than 100 TP Savage Blade spamming.) But that's ridiculously level-specific.

oh hey this just in!

Dancers, Maidens of the Battlefield (10/22/2007)

the Bastok Blight seems to provde not only will Dancers be able to massively enfeeble enemies, but possibly cure the status inflictions of their allies, at no MP cost! think of it as a multi-targeting Esuna!!!!! O_O if its true that would be so cool. ^_^

Well, I'm not sure about that. But the same blurb does include mention of Sword Dance (at least, that's the translation someone has provided), so possibly it will be making an appearance in some form.

Forgot to mention in the discussion of AF above - I hope the flower has Dancing Skill +15, so it's one piece you definitely want to keep till 75. (Yes, even on bald guys and Galkas. It'd be funny.)

They made reference to the martial arts when they were talking about dancer in today's news, so I think we're looking at the class being included in the cloth armor usually reserved for SAM, NIN and MNK.

That would make a bit of sense, because cloth armor encourages mobility.

I still say my exclusive new Dancer gear for every 10 levels would be great and offer more variety. reusing the same 'ol gear everyone else uses is kinda redundant for a new job, especially a Dancer to get stuck using.

but the good thing is that at least for the first 10 levels, people could use uh what's it called, the orange event clothes that looks like Dancer clothes? yeah that will be fun to wear, but party wise, people would expect gear that actually improves your stats. XD

Since both dex and chr are stat modifiers for dancing edge, I would imagine DE will be superior for a dancer compared to evisceration. This is assuming that dancers will generally have a lot of charisma and decent dex as well.

Evisceration tends to be less accurate and generally sucks without loads of dex and crit gear.

I could see dancers with shortswords since classes with a B or higher skill in dagger usually do have at least a B in sword.

Or maybe my Joyeuse is just hoping that.

Joyeuse is more of a Rapier then a short sword, but I will agree that most 'non-mage' jobs have some skill with a short sword.

Though one thing I noticed, there's a pic with Dancer af looking clothes sorta just clumped up...and on top of it are two metal rings far too large to be braclettes or neck pieces.

Perhaps new JSE ring weapons for Dancer? Certainly wouldn't be a first.

Meh, I'm still holding out for Dancer AF to be pasties, a thong, and stilletos. Especially now that there's absolute confirmations that Dancer's not gender based...Galka in heels anyone?

well this confirms many many things. especially about Dancer. I couldn't help but laugh my ass off seeing that bearded guy in Dancer AF. now if only there was a Galka in that AF. XD

anyways since Dancer now looks like it has many supportive abilities, I think BRD might in fact be a great sub for it. The ultimate support combination, possibly.
