Why is a RDM and BLM saying that "most jobs AF" are useless? Melee DDs often wear generic melee-DD stuff (because acc and atk is more useful than enhancements to their job's unique abilities, with a few exceptions like Double Attack and Meditate), but pretty much everyone else has use for at least some of their AF.

Few people wear their full AF full time - which is fine, otherwise there'd be no point in having any other level 50-low 60s gear. But several jobs have at least some pieces usable into the 70s and a few pieces can't be effectively replaced at all except by AF+1.

Whichever piece(s) have +dance skill will probably be good forever (skill is typically very hard to get outside your AF, and extremely valuable for people using resistible magic), maybe a CHR piece or two if dancing is CHR based.

Mhurron is just an angry person in general. I love my AF.

But then again, I'm a RDM and PLD, so I'm biased. I'd probably be thinking differently if I was, say, a NIN or DRK and the majority of my pieces weren't worth getting.

Giving exclusive gears every x level is something SE has never done before. I doubt they'll start doing that for dancers.

I think Dancer will be similar to a cross between red mages and bards.

Are people having that much trouble seeing that Dancer is most likely a DD job? Basically says it right there in the description.

Yeah that seems to be the origin of it. I already have Dagger post 200. I'd possibly level Dancer since I'm a stickler for support jobs.

And Dancing Edge.

Most people don't have a fundamental understanding of Final Fantasy beyond the one that had the number "VII" at the end of it.

Since BRDs since and Dancers dancer, Dancer must be like BRD. They've never played FFV, FFT or dared to touch FFX-2 to know its more of an enfeebler/DD.

I mean, CORs are just like BRDs, right? Because BRDs totally use guns and have good buffs beyond refresh for mages and can buff pets. I tell those BRDs to sing those Store TP and Double Attack songs all the time

Not with a strong dagger. It has high enough stat mods that its base DMG is high enough to be decent. Look at it this way, Rampage and Vorpal have 30% STR mods. Dagger DMG + 40% DEX mod + 30% CHR mod ~= Axe/Sword DMG + 30% STR mod. Granted, it's not a crit WS but whatever.

THFs solo DE all the time in merits because it's not worth waiting for your SA/TA timer if it's not within like 5 seconds of you having gotten 100 TP.

DE dmg is OK w/o fuidama. obviously its greater with fuidama but its not bad like some of the other dagger ws.

Think I might work on THF to sub level just in case it proves to be a good sub for Dancer. I've pretty much needed to get around to it anyway for general NM camping and as a sub toward BLU. Even if it doesn't work out for Dancer, it won't be a total loss.

Two answers:

1. Maybe that's why they show the dancer in the trailer using Evisceration instead.

2. Not with Sword Dance (which they'd probably rename something like Blade Dance so people don't complain about not being able to do it with actual swords). It'd be the obvious way of making Dancer capable of putting out some real damage, while still restricting it to daggers, without screwing too much with daggers in general in ways that would affect other jobs. Self only, a significant atk, STR and/or DMG buff. Maybe only next hit - FFV Sword Dance was only one hit, but it was a BIG hit. Weaker than main THF's SATA since it's on a job that can also most likely do some support, but not so weak as to be useless.

Probably restrict it in some way to prevent two handed DDs from subbing DNC to do massive damage - either amount of effect skill based, or level 38+, or only works on daggers. (Allowing thieves to use it at some effectiveness probably wouldn't hurt, since they got left out of the last couple rounds of 2h love, despite not being in the "uber" tier with the rest of the dual wielders.)

After giving it some thought, not many jobs use Daggers effectively, right? I only see Thieves using daggers to deal damage, rangers and corsairs probably use them too but not for dealing damage, they use their RA's for damage. I'd love to see Dancer be a frontline DDer to be honest, while also being a very respectable debuffer.
