Synthing and Desynthing

I am a new player, and have just dipped into the art of synthing... but i keep hearing about desynthing. I was just wondering what exactly is 'desynthing', and what is the difference between desynthing and synthing? What is needed for desynthing, and is it much the same as synthing?

I generally find desynthing tends not to follow normal crafting rules for level caps and hqs etc, it seems alot more randomized, i used to hq3 a level 50 desynth all the time, whereas now im lucky to hq2 it and im 30 levels higher nearly.

Desynthing tho is described in he thread above very well. Its the way i make all my money i know that much anyway :D
