Just wondered how often this happened to you while skilling up..

When I was 92.x I got a HQ animation on an Icarus Wing synth (93 cap)

Then today I got HQ on platinum nuggets when only 1 level above cap (synthing off that damn panacea) not really skilling up, but near enough.

Anyways, I'm sure some of you other crafters have HQd something wicked - makes me wish I had skilled up on cursed armour

When I was doing carrot broth, before I was even level 1 cooking, I got the HQ of it. Since then the only thing I've HQ'd while skilling was some low level leather pants.

Its rare enough that its still cool when you're doing it.

I've gotten one craft to 99, and two others to 60, and in that time I think I've gotten HQs while skilling up three or four times. It's super rare. I wouldn't skill up on something expensive hoping for an HQ. The odds are just impossible. But it is pretty neat when it happens. Depending on what it is, it might even pay back your level.

I had a Tender Navarin a couple of weeks ago and my cooking is 75.8 (cap is 77). Sold for 30k, which is nice (nq goes for 8-10k).

I also remember getting a couple of famous carrot broths a very, very long time ago. Had no idea what they were and couldn't sell them on the ah, so ended up npcing them. Might make some more now, just to see what they're like.

I've gotten 2 HQs while skilling up a total of 272 crafting levels (not including fishing).

The first was an Alchemy item which had HQ items the same as the NQ.

And the other was a Heko Obi +1! I was so happy I /cheered! Too bad I couldn't have signed it, lol.

Both times I was using advanced synth support and I was within 1 to 2 levels of the synth cap.

Ive only ever hqd synths that dont have a HQ result when skilling -.- I did manage to HQ a wood synth when i was level 1, think it was a level 6 or something synth.

Its almost as rare as desynth skill ups for me >.>

0-60 cooking skilling up I got a few HQ. On items that HQ result the same as NQ -.-

0-60 leather alchemy
0-79 woodworking
0-53 weaving
never HQ.

I have had a couple items HQ while I was skilling up on my Clothcraft, but lately some wierd things happened while I was leveling leather for a sub to my weaving.



although it was darksday full moon... i still think this is pretty rare to do that twice in a row...



maybe leatherworking is special :D

I went from 35-40 in mythril ingots made from ores and I saw the HQ effect on one of them And that's the only craft I have taken up so far, so I don't know any others :x And I don't remember seeing any HQs during other skill ups in the past either.

However I do know that the rate of HQs you get increases as your levels go up, so who knows where I'll be 60+ lol.

In about 800 crafting levels between two of my characters, I have gotten a grand total of 3 HQs. The first was a Spatha +1, during my early early days of crafting. I didn't pay much attention to recipe caps and such back then, so I don't know if image support pushed me up to / past the recipe's cap.

The 2nd time I HQed during a skill up was a Tiger Ring. Early in my crafting career, I noticed that the skill up rate I was seeing dropped when I reached the recipe's cap with my effective crafting skill (i.e. accounting for the image support). After that point, and basically for almost all of my crafting career, I religiously followed a guideline where I stopped using support when I got within 3 levels of cap. That Tiger Ring was one case where I forgot to let image support wear off before continuing a skill up session.

The 3rd time was when I intentionally kept support on even after reaching recipe cap on Iron Chains. This was fairly recent. I wanted to test to see what affect having image support take me above cap would have on skill up rates. Over the course of 3 levels, the skill up rate averaged out to what I normally expect. And I got an HQ during that time.

Some players claim that you should expect an HQ from skill ups once every 3 to 4 levels once you're past 60. I suspect that these players have image support and guild equipment pushing their effective skill past recipe caps on a consistent basis. My current belief is that there is a Tier 0 (at or above recipe cap) where your HQ rate reaches 1-2%, and your HQ chances are 0% (or very close to it) when you are below the cap.

The above theory sounds correct to me. I've gotten a few skillup + HQ results in various crafts and now that I think about it, I think I had synth support every time.

I'm not convinced that pushing your effective skill limit above the cap for your recipe doesn't hurt your skillup rates though...

On average i've seen the HQ animation on things that don't actaully have a HQ more than those that do when i've leveled off them. I think there might be a higher chance to see a HQ when the item can't, but why they'd do that I don't know.

I have seen a few skill HQ's, most recently when I was skilling up Alchemy I mananged to HQ Mercury once.

I can only remember two synths that I HQed while I was skilling on them. First was 66 darksteel bolts. Second was a few levels later with 66 bodkin arrows. I'm sure I had advanced support on for both.

I've HQed things I wasn't 11 levels past the cap on...I always just assumed it was like 1 in 100 or 1 in 200 shot of HQing something you were 0 to 10 levels higher than. Off hand, I can think of a few things I've HQed past the cap, but below the first HQ teir. That always makes me smile a bit too.

Sometimes, this makes me curse my luck. I haven't done any level 96+ recipes for profit yet. So when this happens, it's usually a guild point item. One time, I HQed my test item. And the guild won't accept the HQ version of the item for your rank test
