Fisking for beginners-Help needed!!!

I am currently level 15 ast the moment and i have just started to fish. I do not know about fishing that is why i need your help.
I have caught a few item, mainly 1gil and some monsters, where can i start to get more better items or increase my level more. I do not know the name of my rod at the moment but i'll get it for you.(it is worth 7,00gil if taht helps).
Can anyone help me?

P.s off the topic, when you by funiture, e.g flowerpot and grow a seed, do you get a reward? Also when u buy furniture can you store more items in your mog house instead of the initial 50?
