New crafter looking for some advice

I've recently decided that SheepWhool pays well, but just not well enough. So I've decided to invest in higher crafting skills. I've decided to take on Alchemy, but I'm not sure what a good support craft that I should do for it. I looked through the thread "Full Metal Alchemist" to get some good recipes for raising it, but any more n00b advice would be sweet

Just go here: http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.j...001Alchemy.htm

and look over the crafting list. See what you think you're likely to make a lot and go with that.

It looks like smithing and goldsmithing are pretty popular cross-synths, with woodworking in 3rd place.
