Clothcraft lvl 35 question

I recieved the recipe Velvet cloth from the guild dude (who gives advanced imagery)

1) Does the skill required change if i use the wool thread or the cotton ?
2) what level should i attempt to craft this, though the guild gave me the recipe i faild non stop... and the skill cap of it is really high (51)

Side note, does anyone know where u can buy bird feathers from (other than AH and guild) the guild seems to unreliable(only seen it there once)
