I really didn't intend to end up writing 7 or 8 paragraphs on the subject

As far as someone getting code of the NM spawning before it actually spawns, in order to do that would mean they'd of hacked the server which is illegal in itself. The added seriousness to any form of botting is it has the potential of damaging your own character data causing you to loose items, have abnormal effects, or even unusual latencies.
Exactly my point. With all the focus on the more easily spotted fishing bots, this for of cheeting has almost been completely overlooked. Case and point, before my sebattical I was camping the mob that dropped the moster signia. (not for cash mind you, but because I am a bard and need the item for BCNM 40's and such). I camped the Torrent for about 2 weeks streight. Most of the time there would be no one there till about 3-5 min before he poped, where upon 5-10 upper level JP Red and white mages would show up with fast cast, flash and holy. When I would ask them in romanji if the needed the item, a few replied in english that thye need gil... fair enough.. when I asked how they knew to come then the said, at first that it was a secret... after seeing the same players for over a week some volenteered that they had a JP program that found out from the server when it would spawn.

To me this is the big issue. Not a stack of fish that sell for a couple thousand gill per stack (as I recall) and pretty much carry a fixed price due to the Lu Shang quest. Now, I am not saying that fishing bots are OK but I just see them as the (far) lesser of two evils.

They are both bad. I see TONS of bastor beam fishers outside of towns. You're probably thinking.. who cares?

Well, each of those fish go for around 1.6k. And this is to an NPC. Lots not forget that Lushangs make these easy to catch as pie (how easy is pie to catch anyway?).
