| Junior Member | leather crafting help, what to craft by level
I am a lv 4 in leather smithing but it has taken quite a lot of gil and time to just get that. I am hoping an experience leather smither can post what to craft at what levels to get your skills up the fastest. For example Lv 1-4 craft sheep wool Lv 4-10 ??? and so forth... It would be greatly appreciated. |

Here's what I did up to 13 or so (the rest've been culled out of the site distro'ing the Japanese synth helper tool Moogle 0-2 Sheepleather(willow+water+sheep dark) 0-4 Sheepwool (sheep*2 wind) 4-7 Wabbit Manteau (Wabbit skin*5, grass thread earth) 7-11 Solea (Sheepleather*2 wind) 11-14 Fisher glove (lizardskin*2 cottoncloth earth) 14-21 Dhalmel leather (Dhalmelskin+water+willow OR Dhalmelskin+water+WindyTeaLeaves Dark) Ok, getting lazy... 21-22 leatherring 22-24 dhalmel manteau 24-31 parchment 29-35 Ram Leather 35-39 Wolf Gorket 39-44 Quill Trouser Guess an actual leathercraftsman will post a guide later anyway, I'll stop here. If you're still @ 4 though... with the wabbit manteaus and such don't get skill support if the sale price is too low. Leather items are always in demand though, so make good use of that (like any synth, materials that're used for other synths have resale value and are therefore not nearly as painful on your wallet). G'luck, hopefully a real leathercrafter w/ some time on his hands will be around by the time you get your crafts up to pop up a short guide. |

From 7 to 11 maybe you can try lizard mantles with 1 lizard skin, 1 lizard molt and 1 grass cloth, use earth crystal. Depends of the price but on phoenix sheep leather is 7.5k stack and wind crystal are 1.2k stack. For lizard skin it's 7-8k stack and lizard molt can go to 2k stack, earth crystals are 300/stack. Those are AH prices. Making a stack of sheep leather cost about 5k now, 2.4k dark crystal, 200 each sheep skin, 500 tea leaves (240 if you buy them at windurst) and 200 for water. 16.2k for 12 solea while 11.2k for lizard mantle, solea sell at AH for 400-500g while lizard mantle go for 600-700.

I know early on one usually takes a loss when crafting unless you have a a lot of time to go farming for the materials. I guess the trick is to minmize how much you lose while trying to increase the skill. Back to my original question, since I am a lv 4 leather smith, I should craft stuff below me level? |

Incredible... People're posting suggestions and you ignore all of them and ask the same damn question again. I suggest you try learning something about skillcaps for synth; I'm not going to write it here, since you're going to ignore it anyway. |

I was ntot ignoring you, the question was more aimed at a previous post, the one concerning the guild recipes on killifrit website, from reading the chart I was not sure what to craft at lv 4. Besides don't take stuff so personal, god. Anyhow from reading various posts seems like goldsmithing is the way to go. There was a poll on which guild makes the most cash overall and goldsmithing had the most votes by far. So i might dabble in that. Getting the materails might be easier too since I like to mine. |

some crafts yeild more skill than others some crafts sell to npcs for a smaller loss and some items sell easier in AH their questions are asking what is the most cost efficient way to get ur leathers skll up at a decent speed so showing a list of recipes wont help them
