Moon effects too severe? (Fishing)

Anyone else think that the current moon effects on fishing are too severe?

I was lucky enough to catch the last 2 hours of the new moon today. Fishing in Wind.Walls I was getting bites almost 80% of my casts. Now that the new moon is over I see about 6 bites and 2 fish caught per hour. That�s just sad.

I don�t mind that the moon gives a bonus to fishing, but the skill should not totally be crippled when the moon is not in alignment. Right now it�s not even worth fishing unless you can plan your play time around the moon.

Yeah I�m whining, but I wanted to take some time away from leveling to do crafts for awhile.. fishing was all I could afford to do. Sucks when you can only fish every other day for a couple hours when you�re lucky enough to get a good moon alignment.

You also have to remember that other things affect fishing aside from the moon phases. Weather, time of day and location play a huge factor as well. Actually fishing in FFXI is very closely modeled after fishing in RL.

fish in rl really base wether or not there gonna bite a worm depending most heavily on the moon?

i mean i could definatly see time of day weather, but then i think about how ffxi also bases it on day of the week and that's yet another facter that doesn't determine wether or not fish in r/l bite
