A little advice for a little pirate

I was reading all the COR guides thoroughly and i was impressed with how much i learned, and how awesome COR can be when used to its full potential, however its very unfortunate to see that i havent seen any COR in my servers even potentially do have the things i read lol. Just to briefly introduce myself, i love jobs that are versatile, and do more than just sit.. /attack../ws.../attack.../ws.I am a tarutaru, and I have WHM at 75, BLU and PLD are on the way. I was extremely fond of leveling something interesting and COR hit me but i have a few concerns for a Tarutaru COR.

Now what gear should i be focus on? I realized that Quick Draw and the Elemental Cards are effected by the elemental staves respectively. So a MATT/MACC gear should be a concern.

Anyways...to get to the point...

1. I did pick up a Moldavite Earring, what else should i pick up? I did want to pick up the Denali legs and feet for my BLU but they seem really nice for COR also. Opinions?

2. I need to desperately get a Joyeuse for my PLD, so thats a plus for my future COR.Should i pick up a Merc Kris also?

3. I do have a full set of HQ staves but should i swap HQ staves in accordance to the elemental card i am using or sleeping a mob (Apollo's + Light Card etc etc.)

I was reading on Omgwtfbbqkitten's Luzaf Ring rant and i must say i wanna understand my job fully before throwing myself into the fire because i cant stand people who dont play their jobs full potential so i wanna to fully grasp the COR concept. Great guide btw on "The Gambler's Life".Anyways continuing..

4. COR and AH. How expensive is the job to be honest? I can make a fairly nice income thanks to goldsmithing but from what people tell me it seems pretty intimidating lol.

5. From what i understood, COR dont DD till Joyeuse, but i need to show a little love for my COR because for CoP i chose Rajas (BLU) Balth. ring (BLU, WHM) Suppa. earring (BLU, PLD) and Ethereal (PLD, BLU). Jalf. ring looks really nice but i suppose Balth. ring on COR is good if i do COR/WHM correct? Basically what gear will still make me an uber COR despite my expansion prize joices?

This is a pretty extensive thread so i appreciate any and all advice. Thanks in advance everyone.

lol i apologize for the huge, fat chunk of text. I was posting this thread on my school's PCs and i was having alot of difficuly editing everything and posting. For some odd reason everything came out a giant blob after i posted the thread. I figured some people had to suffer until i got home to edit it lol.

Edit and Revised.

thx again for the guide.

What's most improtant is keeping the guns and bullets up-to-date, if you don't do that, you don't get a good full base damage to QD. There are other pieces of MAB gear out there, but nothing in quick draw is as important as its secondary enfeebling effects and sleep/dispel functions. As such, prioritize your AGI build first, look for other MAB and Macc when you have the time to work on it and slots you feel you can sacrifice after doing your merits.

Purely up to you, I wouldn't say MK is requisite at all.

Only in situations where you're not actively shooting or meleeing because swapping staves drops TP back to Zero, even though Guns are a different weapon slot. Make a macro set for stave swap for when you go /WHM, /BLU, /RDM or /BLM, but if you're /DNC, /RNG or /NIN never swap in staves, ever.

To clarify, CORs generally don't melee DD until 70, you'll be TPing with guns all the way to that point and beyond unless you have a Joyeuse or MK.

As of Level Sync, COR became the most expensive job in the game. COR scares away the grindwhores because of its expense, but for someone that paces themselves and spends wisely, COR expense would be even with RNG or slightly higher due to the small market for its bullets.

COR is fortunate in that most of its best gear is free and lasts long, which is the exact same case with RNG. Noct set will carry you to AF, AF will carry you til Paluwahn and your melee/endgame builds. If you have a decent income via Goldsmithing, levelling COR at a casual pace should leave you with enough room to breathe.

Remember, there's no checkered flag at 75, so there's no rush. If you're low on bullets and need gil, focus on making the gil. I'm not even a steady crafter and I manage OK.

Most of your mission reward choices are sound. Jalzhan's Ring is mostly intended for players who focus deeply on ranged attacking jobs. Since I skew Kitten to RNG, COR an THF, that works just fine for me. Balhran's Ring is a fine choice for QD and mage jobs, so don't worry about it too much, just don't full-time it and sub Ecphoria in for melee and Behemoth Rings for Ranged attacks. The rest of your choices are OK, though COR won't get much out of Ethereal Earring.
