BCNM KSNM ISNM?? Any of them really corsair-able?

I am hitting that point where it would be really nice to try and get a Coffinmaker, I have saved up about 90 Seals, but the question is... Is there any KSNM's that a Corsair can do? I assume Copycat would allow a corsair to be present depending on the rest of the group setup.

But that makes me curious about the rest, what are peoples experiences as a Corsair in any other of the BC/KS/ISNM's?

Thanks~

Re: BCNM KSNM ISNM?? Any of them really corsair-able?

CORs fare quite well in most of the level cap content in FFXI, excluding 30 caps and BCNM 40 - Under Observation. Since Phantom Rolls have such a strong duration and CORs are able to deal damage respectably, this actually makes them a more worthwhile addition to BCNM fights than BRD.

For Copycat, COR shines. Quick Draw gets past shadows, so when allies are charmed, you can sleep or dispel them better than most. Light Shot also can keep the NM tied down for a while, but I would still suggest a BLM or RDM be along for the ride to alternate sleeps so the NM doesn't start to build up resists.

For most BCNM content, I do honestly skew to /NIN, even though I shun /NIN in most other cases. Long buffs, decent DD capability and damage mitigation are a potent mix for many BCNM fights. Just be sure to bring a good R. Acc build and sushis if you do go /NIN.

Most of the BCNM mobs are relatively easy, though honestly if you can get ahold of a Corsair's Gun(+1) for QD on your server, I would not bother wasting the seals/money/trouble to get and unlock a Coffinmaker. I have one that I use for when I'm doing larger fights where the bulk of my damage comes from QD only, but I only use it because Corsair's Gun +1 is virtually nonexistant on Ramuh. In retrospect I definitely wish I would not have bothered with unlocking mine.

99% of the time I use Martial Gun, which I strongly feel is a much better overal weapon, and doesn't require a crapton of time or ammo to unlock a latent. When you already have to dump a good amount of time/gil/ammo into doing Gun of Trials and Quicksilver, it's just kind of a waste for something that just sits in storage collecting dust most of the time.

Re: BCNM KSNM ISNM?? Any of them really corsair-able?

I've still never seen any data on how much accuracy is added from 200 TP on Slug Shot and even after holding Martial Gun, I'm still convinced its only good for Detonator, which still doesn't come close to Slug Shot. Til then, I'm sticking with the +9 accuracy on my Coffinmaker and considering a Murderer.

And with Leaden Salute out there (encouraging the level 22 Bullet retard trend, sadly), I'd say even that was better than Detonator in most cases.

SE really needs to fix Leaden Salute, though, no one should be getting decent damage for low DMG guns and bullets. Same goes for Trueflight, which works the exact same way.

Re: BCNM KSNM ISNM?? Any of them really corsair-able?

Nothing is wrong with LS really, it has much lower damage potential than either Slug or Detonator and is subject to resists, and really only useful against a small handfull of mobs.

Martial/Coffinmaker have been pretty much even for Slug every time I compared them, CM sees maybe an extra 2-4 damage on QD over Martial(btw Murderer won't see any more QD damage than CM, and will still lose to Corsair's/+1).

It's true that Martial is mostly for the boost to Detonator, however it gives a huge boost compared to the very negligeable boost that CM gives to Slug, especially against high-end mobs where if you even land Slug, it's barely going to outdamage a 200%+ Detonator, making it not worth the Acc penalty either way.
