| Probably Lying | Melee TP gear question
Alright, so after searching the forums, I've found threads with racc builds for tping, and a general consensus of "Joyeuse or go home" for tping melee, but I've found nothing really on suggestions for gear for a melee tp build. Not using sword to TP unless it's a Joytoy seems like fairly ubiquitous knowledge, but I'm really stumped on gear. Does it vary much from our shooting build, outside of losing the +racc -acc rings of the level? Any help would be appreciated. Current gear set up for shooting TP is: Weapon: Fire Staff Sub: Mythril Grip +1 Range: Sharks Gun Ammo: Bullets/Steel Bullets Head: Corsair's Hat Neck: Spectacles Ears: Drone x2 Body: Pahluwan Khazagand Hands: Dead Eye Gloves Rings: Behemoth x2 Back: Amemet Mantle +1 Waist: Gun Belt Legs: Dusk Trousers Feet: Corsair's Bottes Clearly some of this needs to change for meleeing TP, I'm just not sure what to use. |

In regards to a melee set, if you don't have sword merits I would personally stick with accuracy over Haste, especially if you only have a few pieces. I'd recommend something along the lines of: Head: Optical Hat Neck: Spectacles Earrings: Not a ton of decent melee TP earrings outside of Hollow/Suppa/Brutal, if you can get those go for it Body: Paluwhan Khazagand Hands: Cobra Unit Gloves(from Windy (S) Allied Notes Excange) Rings: Ecphoria + Woodsman/Sniper(Ecphoria is decent enough and much cheaper than a 2nd Woodsman/Sniper) Back: Amemet Mantle +1 Waist: Life Belt/Potent Belt(Swift Belt if you have one) Legs: Dusk is still fine here, Paluwhan/Denali are really nice if you can get though. Feet: Not a ton here, I use Dusk since I have merits, Enkidu's Leggings are fantastic if you can get, otherwise there's nothing ridiculously great in the slot Add: If you have sword merits you can work in some Haste, I personally use the following: Head: Walahra Turban Neck: Peacock Charm Ears: Hollow + Brutal(Suppanomimi is slightly better than Hollow for this) Hands: Dusk Gloves Rings: Ecphoria + Woodsman Back: Amemet Mantle +1 Waist: Life Belt(Swift won't drop )Legs: Denali Kecks Feet: Dusk Ledelsens

With a good accuracy build and sushi, landing hits isn't that much of a problem on COR at any rate. And if you intend to have a melee build be worthwhile at all, having Joyeuse is a must. Also, those Deadeye Gloves aren't helping you melee for TP, the Slow effect is murder. Go for Dusk for melee and, if you have the means, Crimson Finger Gauntlets for shooting. Also, try to do away with as much -Accuracy as you can. I've tossed my Behemoth Rings into Storage and hardly looked at them since getting Rajas and Jalzhan's Rings.

I wasn't even going to think about meleeing for TP before I got a Joyeuse. That's my next big project. I can, and plan on, getting Crimson Finger Gauntlets, I just have to get back up into Sky. Dusk gloves are coming down a bit on my server, so I may be able to swing a pair of those shortly. I'm breathing a sigh of relief that most of what's listed I have from MNK (Rajas, Ohat.) I don't have a suppa, I opted for the bushi, so that might throw a kink. I have to assume that you have merits sunk into marksmanship to be able to do away with your Behemoth rings for shooting. |

Melee COR is going to want some emphasis on + accuracy, getting rid of -accuracy is a must. RNG and DNC subs help since they give Accuracy Bonus traits, too. Meleeing /NIN over /RNG or /DNC is LOL, but if you have to at times, go with single wielding the Joyeuse, faster TP if you do that.

| Re: Melee TP gear question COR Melee Set My melee set in progress (don't have all the pieces yet, but I'm getting there). I'll probably use PCC/Chiv on the neck instead of Fort Torque, as I won't get it for some time (still working on Faith instead) and you could surely do slightly better on the body piece (COR relic), but I figure stack on some strength if I can afford to lose a bit of Accuracy. Also the Ecphoria Ring could be replaced with either Snipers+1/Toreador's Ring if you need the added Acc (from subbing in all that haste) or a flame ring perhaps if you don't? Just a work in progress... suggestions welcomed. And yes, I'd put Skadi Body on instead of COR relic if I get it. Currently, I melee in P Body, Chiv Chain, and dusk pants.. trying to decide if without the full haste build I should be using Dusk Boots of stick with Denali until then.

Why would a merit PT need Hunters? Colibri ring a bell here especially if they aren't 2 handers no food = alot more swooshy

As for the MK comment, yeah it can do well on some mobs, but I don't trust it on anything outside of colibri for merit. Here on Odin you aren't always guaranteed the bird camps, sometimes its the trolls.

You could bring multiple weapons (or other pieces of gear) and change depending on what camp you're going to. Yeah, it sucks to blow all that gil on mkris and then have to use something else, but if you didn't want to spend gil, you should have gotten joyeuse instead, or better yet, chosen a different job than COR. It takes a lot of plundering to keep yourself in ammo and cards, never mind the permanent gear. Even skilling up costs money; so does unlocking quest WS (two of them now) and Coffinmaker (which actually seems possibly not worth it compared to shark and other gun options).
