They can make really noticeable difference on resist rates for BLM's nukes. As a BLM53, I'd say this is a VERY bad glitch, and demand immediate action from S-E.
Well, I would, if I have a COR and a NIN in my BLM's static party. <_<;

I'll be making corrections as they come, adding details about equipment, weapons and the link.
So if you want to keep updated and are interested in playing COR keep checking back on this thread, because I might have screwed up somewhere and have to fix it. I think I caught most of them already, though.

Just thinking back to the AF3 Tricorne fight, I've noticed there isn't that much information about this on the net (there possibly is but I've found info on this is hard to come by), so I'm hoping the tips that I'm about to add might prove useful and that this is the right place to post this. The Battlefield
The fight itself is set on The Ashu Talif, which is unique in that it is the one "BCNM" that is treated like an Assault. This means that not only will all buffs wear on entry but if you wipe and plan to Reraise outside of the BCNM, this is impossible as your Reraise is removed upon exiting the BCNM - possibly due to the zoning.
It's also worth poining out that if you use the Cutter Fireflies to leave the BCNM you will end up outside the Cutter but if you fail in any way you end up near the boat where the ?? is for obtaining the COR job quest not far beyond the Lamian Fang Gate. The Key Item
The Key Item: Life Float is needed to enter the fight. This is automatically "consumed" on entry and each time you wish to enter the fight, you need a new one from The Sharatat Teahouse. Please note this can only be obtained once per JP day, so if you want to, you can pick one up at 11:59pm JP time, try the BCNM at say 1:30am JP time the next day and instantly pick up a new one. Yup, I've tried this. The Enemies
You face Yazquhl and Gowam (WAR and BLU respectively), and just like the Mithran Sin Hunters in CoP, they have Regain and will skillchain with one another. If a weaponskill lands on a player, the other often follows suit, and even if the second weaponskill lands on a different player, the Skillchain goes off and the first person receives the damage burst.
I don't think this is possible to solo (as RDM/NIN) as I have seen a RDM with Merited Enfeebling cast Bind on the WAR on numerous attempts (over different fights and days) and it hasn't lasted more than around ten seconds, and then become resisted after three or four attempts. Gravity works well though.
There is a trick to this fight - there seems to be some sort of shared hate between the two mobs. In, say for example, the Airship fight, there is a popular tactic of Supertanking the Mammets (the tank aggroes all the Mammets, not touching them, and another player pulls them off one at a time - as long as the other Mammets still have yellow, unclaimed names, they won't aggro the WHM no matter how much healing is given to the tank), but this won't work here. If a kiter aggroes the mobs (with intention to Supertank) whilst another player solos the other, as soon as they try to skillchain, the kited mob will run off to assist the soloed mob.
Therefore the trick to this is to have the kiter aggro both mobs and begin kiting, have the soloer pull one mob up the stairs to the top of the battlefield into one corner and begin fighting, then have the kiter die halfway up the other stairs (so the central "pillar" between the two staircases is blocking any line of sight between the two mobs). This means the kited mob will have their hate reset, and it cannot see its friend being fought by the soloer to join in, and will run back to the starting point, meaning the kiter can Reraise, rest up then assist the soloer in picking off the mobs one at a time. Tried and tested in numerous attempts - just took six goes to hone it /blush
Cheating? Maybe, but sometimes you have to make do with what you have. Had no luck in getting anyone for this fight, so had to duo it as a WHM with a RDM friend.
On exiting, you will end up in Arrapago Reef near the COR ?? as mentioned above. Just as a note, I did add links to FFXIlopedia earlier this week for all Phantom Rolls so people could click and see each rolls random values. As of Monday Aug. 27, 2007, many buff values are likely to change and be scaled up a bit, so the information available now is correct, but will not be correct for a little while come Monday.
I'm going to leave the links as is, because I'm pretty sure people will be updating the Wiki in the coming weeks after the new values are discovered and agreed upon. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-24-2007, 03:33 PM | #22 (permalink) | The BBQ Kitten Revolution FFXIWiki Team Join Date: May 2006 Location: Windurst Posts: 4,574 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 158 Thanked 1,265x in 705 Posts Gil: 36,357 Bank: 11 Total Gil: 36,368 Donate | Re: A Gambler's Life - Corsair Guide blah, gonna have to update due to massive broken links from the FFXIclopedia merge. I was planning a revamp anyway to give this guide a little more splash and flavor, not to mention trim it down in some respects and expand on other parts.
Revamp will come later in the week and completed sometime in next couple of weeks. Maybe adding the AF quests and Final Limit Break would be relevant, in retrospect. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-25-2007, 09:01 PM | #23 (permalink) | | Sticky Paws Keeper of Knowledge Join Date: May 2006 Location: Southern California Posts: 2,892 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 237 Thanked 610x in 395 Posts Gil: 10,835 Bank: 126,476 Total Gil: 137,310 Donate | Re: A Gambler's Life - Corsair Guide Originally Posted by Omgwtfbbqkitten | | blah, gonna have to update due to massive broken links from the FFXIclopedia merge. | Search and Replace is easy... =b “ I’m in pain, but I’m happy.”

Spiffy, grandiose revision is never as good as a working guide with updated info, especially since the guide was good to begin with. “ I’m in pain, but I’m happy.”

If you want a support class that is cheap, you're looking at the wrong one - thats BRD.
Of course, that's not ever stopped people from cheaping out on COR anyway, and they're still lousy CORs for cutting corners. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-07-2008, 10:59 AM | #30 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: May 2006 Posts: 8 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 4 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 822 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 822 Donate | Re: A Gambler's Life - Corsair Guide <<Hmm>>
I've been contemplating Corsair for a while now, because of a few reasons.
a) You get to play as a pirate and have licence to type "Arrr!" or "Avast!" into nearly all of your macros.
b) Last time I counted there were about 12 Corsairs on Bahamut and I fancied changing that.
c) I wanted to try a support job, but I can't get Bard past level 8 because I hate it.
Anyways, long story short, this guide has been really helpful. Once again the BBQ Kitten has jotted down nuggets of FFXI gold.
