Question Is an Asylum GeForce FX 5200 256MB AGP a good graphics card?

I just bought this card. Before I open it I wanted to know if any1 knows if this is a good solid card to play FFXI on? Thx.

Yes it's a very good card for FFXI. The 256MB helps too, just make sure your computer has AGP slots and not PCI. If not, just get the PCI version, there's not much difference.

Overall, a very good card for FFXI, I have one on one of my computers and it works flawlessly and very smooth.

the 5200 is the worst card ever made by nvidia...... the ti 4200 - 4800 (about same price range) far excede the proformance of the 5200.....

getting that is a waste of your $50-100.... if you paid any more, you got ripped off, and ask for your money back... if you can afford it, get an ati 9800 line card, or if you don't have that much, get a 9600 line card (don't get SE of either though, it may be cheaper, but it looses the strengths of the normal cards [128 bit turns to 64 in 9600, 256 turns to 128 for 9800])...

The 5200 is a really crappy card, a 4200, 4400 or 4600 will be WAY faster. The 256mb is a total waste on a card that slow. The best cards as far as how much proformance you get for your money are the Radeon 9600xt or pro and the Geforce FX 5600 ultra. They cost around $150 but they give you the most preformance per $. For 50 to 100$ get a Geforce 4 4200 with 128mb of ram, it's still one of the best deals around for that price.

I must agree, I to have a Geforce FX 5600 on my other computer and it performs much better at a similar price, I just thought your concern might have been the money, if you have money to waste though, definately go for a FX 5600 or higher. 9600 XT or higher for Radeon's. Plus you get a Half-Life 2 with those (if it's ever released).

built in, ati sponsered overclocing (only 26mh more, but it's better than nothing, and it doesn't violate warrenty)
