Right now my comp is a 1.8 ghz geforce 2 224 mb of ram.. i dont know why its 224 but ne way.. im not really a wizz with comps so i dont know what kinda ram it is.. But i really wanna get a geforce 4 or something to run ffxi on some sweet graphics.. i use a 56k and actually... my ffxi runs faster then most cables online.. probably cause i reformatted.. would anyone know how much a geforce 4 would cost and how much it generally costs to get about 256 more ram? plz and thx |

If your RAM is at 224 it's probably corrupted, you probably need a new stick. Buy a 512 MB stick of ram for about 65 dollars. Processor will do fine, not great, but okay. Buy at least a GeForce 5200 or a Radeon 9500 Pro I would say. There's no way your modem can do cable speeds online. Cable modems get ~75 ping to a server, dial-up modems are only capable of about 200+. Search on Pricegrabber.com for prices on the above components.

The RAM may not be corrupted, how many sticks of it do you have? Cause you could have a 32, 64, and 128 MB sticks of it lol. And go for a 9600 over a 9500. There are reasons why ATI stopped making 9500/9700 and making 9600/9800.

9600 is faster but has half the number of pipelines, the general concensus was that the 9500 was the better card, but was too expensive to make. A 9600 was cheaper to make with half the pipelines so they pissed off the 9500. If you can find a 9500pro, buy one, for the historical value and performance.
