| Direct 3D Err 2000 or Err 2001 Solutions
Alright, I know a few of you are having this problem with the bench program, and it is my assumption that if the bench program does this then the main game may as well. Here is some good news for you! It isn't that your computer just 'can't' play FFXI. At least it doesn't mean you can't play the bench rather. This Error occurs when your card does not properly support Direct 3d when running FFXI. I know that sounds bad but that could be for one of three reasons! 1) You do not have a powerful enough 3d card, meaning it does not meet the minimum requirements listed on the sight. But I doubt many of you bashing your heads have this particular problem. Most common with 'onboard video cards.' 2) Your drivers are current enough. I can't stress this one enough, go to you manufacturers' site RIGHT NOW and download the most current drivers! This can solve ALOT of problems with many games, and especialy newer ones like FFXI. *3) Now here is the one I'm putting my money on being the problem for most of you! If you computer has a built in video addapter (most computers do) you need to dissable it. For somereason the Bench program sometimes thinks that your on board video card is your main card and sends the data to it, it then fails to get the job done (or even send data to your monitor ) and the game crashes with the Err 2000 or Err 2001. To do this, for those of you who dont know, right click 'My Computer' and then 'Properties.' Next click the 'Hardware' tab. And then 'Device Manager.' Once there expand the 'Display Adapter' tree and right click the UNDESIRED video addapter, for example 'Intel(r) 82810E Graphics Controller' and click 'Disable.' I hope that helps alot of broken hearted people out there! I hope to see you all in game when it comes out! |

I was getting this problem with the benchmark, and I checked my monitor drivers and they were showing just the default plug and play drivers (don't know how it got changed), so I reinstalled my monitor drivers and that solved the problem.

Noooo, I don't want to have to fool with that onboard graphics card tonight. A while back, I tried to install a PCI card on this board but the onboard graphics card wouldn't allow me to use it. I spent countless hours/nights/days/weeks trying to disable the onboard card but it still wouldn't allow me to use the darn PCI card. So I got an AGP card and everything went through just fine, but now this issue comes up... The only device listed in my display adapters is the one I'm currently using-- GeForce FX 5200. I'm in the process of reinstalling FFXi but once its done, I'm going to make an attempt to disable the onboard card from the BIOS... Wish me luck. :spin: |

Yay! I solved my own issue! All you have to do is uninstall directx and then reinstall it . :D Everything is fine now. I passed the bench test and everything in Dxdiag is passing 'ok'. :D I'll try to play the game now... |
