i was wondering, who thinks the rambus is better, and who thinks ddr sdram is? tech specs on rd ram: operation speeds of 600/700/800/1066/1200 mh depending on choice 18-bit communication communicates on both up and down of cpu cycle (ddr) dual channel support on all motherboards availiable(my comp has dual channel rd ram at 800 mh) 4-8gb/s memory transfer specs on ddr: 233/266/333/400 mh depending on choice 24 or 32 bit communication (can't remember which) ddr (duh) dual channel support on some motherboards if you can clear up info, go ahead. just say which you think is best and why.

Everyone remebers when Intel went the rambus route. It was so damn expensive. And all that bandwidth was a waste. if you looked at benchmarks ddrsdram was on par. There was no real world preformence difference, your frame rates wouldnt increase at all and it was well over priced. Thats why intel droped rambus, that and they use cocky business practices.

I don't think rambus even has bandwidth advantages over dual channel ddr400 anymore. It's still more expensive than ddr, so I think ddr wins. I'm still using PC1066 rambus. It's still cheaper for me to just throw in more RAM than to buy a new system :3. |

you are right you aerobahn, it's just too damn expensive. i can find 1 gig of ddr ram pc4000 (that is par with 1066mh rambus) for the same as 512mb of rd800.... that cuts my budget for a new graphics card from to 200 max (i though i could get new card and 512mb ram for under 400, but the ram is 175 for 512mb in two 256mb sticks, i have to include shipping after that cuz no store sells rd, not even best buy). just so you know, intel only produced two variations of the same one motherboard containing rdram. it is the i450 and i450e. i don't know which i have, but i beleive it is the 450e, cuz i can have 1066mh ram..
