Are there any advantages in having FFXI on a SCSI drive compared to an IDE drive?

I would have to say not necessarily... there's a lot more emphasis on data from the server than graphical info from the client...however, it may cut down on area load times a tad... having a fast network connection is much more vital than having faster hardware communication and local data access... |

Let me rephrase, if you could choose either SCSI or IDE what would you have chosen to install FFXI on.

SCSI would just help loading times. IDE and SATA drives would be a better use of money for FFXI. |

IDE, easier to set up and it is more main-line. so just stick iwth IDE and use the extra money to get a better ethernet card or something...

SCSI is only applicable really with high-end workstations that have several devices/components.
