Maybe you can answer this Firestorm. I've been digging for a couple months, and my girlfriend just started this weekend. Why does she have a longer wait time to dig comparatively to me? |

Some sort of hidden variable or level ahs to exist because yesterday while I was running around doing some quests i saw a high lvl doing some choco digging and she could dig every other second. Although I have done a lot of digging and I really haven't noticed a difference. I really would like to know how to 'lvl up'. |

Let me tell you my experiences. I have thrown at least 400,000 gil and two months of my time digging. It is a big money lost and right now I’m starting to see a minimal profit and it doesn’t compare to someone farming crawlers in the newbie area in Windhurst. Square has made it like other craft skills where only the few who can put millions of gil and all their time into the craft will see a huge profit. Like any other craft, you need to lose a lot of money and time before a minimal profit shows. You might easily reach a digging skill of 1 or 2, but each level after that will become exponentially harder both in time and financial investment. Dig if you have money to throw away, dig if you like to explore, dig if you have nothing better to do or dig if you are going to make it your main craft. But don’t dig if you think you are going to make money right off the bat. 30mins of digging will cost approximately 5000gil invested in greens and a chocobo. In that 30mins and 72digs you need to find 5000gil to recover the initial cost. If you do find enough materials to recover your initial cost and even make a profit, you only have 7 spaces in the AH for the stuff you find. The money you won’t see right away because your digs don’t return perfect stacks of 12 bonechips and sprigs, so you either sell them individually or keep them in storage till you can make a stack. So you have about 12 different items in waiting, gathering dust. And if you are at the point where you start to see a minimal profit, my point, you still need to recover that initial investment before you are actually profitable. I have seen two professional diggers, both 70+ in level, in all my digs. If digging was a huge money maker, everyone would be doing it. I dig because I have a group of friends, 4years strong, that I don’t want to out level and it is a way for me to explore new zones and pass the time. If I want to make money, I’ll camp a NM, kill crawlers and goblins or level a Thief. I hope this helps. |

I'd hazard a guess that the digging skill level might also influence exactly what you can find or how easy it is to dig up certain items. I've been harvesting for clothcraft skill, and gysal greens are one of the things you can harvest. So I've started digging recently. The only things I've found so far are a single pebble and a wind crystal, so I haven't even recovered the cost of the chocobo rental, but I do it when I'm going from place to place, so I'd have paid the money anyway. At any rate, last night I was in Tahrongi Canyon, and spotted a Goblin Digger. "Ah-ha!" I thought to myself, and rode in closer. Just as I got close, I realized he was doing the digging animation! "Even better!" I thought to myself, as it meant that I'd get something with minimal effort. WRONG! I had five gysal greens on me. The first four times I got a message stating that, "You sense that an item is nearby," or something to that effect. So I'd move a little and try again. The fifth time I moved a little too far and got the regular old "You dig and dig but don't find anything" message. Anyone have any insight into the problem I had last night? |

Althorn, a couple days ago I had the same problem, went through a stack of greens:mad: Im guessing that where I was digging, wasn't EXACTLY where the digger had dug. |

I think you should level high enough to be able to use a Chocobo in the first place before posting in this thread

I got an acorn and an elm log digging last night. Looked on AH and no one has ever sold an acorn at the AH on my server. Anyone know why that would be? Also what does it enhance? What price should i sell it at?

Acorcs are more or less useless.. Elm logs are about 200.. How many greens did you go through to get those things and where were you? Im trying to find out if digging everywhere is borked. Or just me. I've been digging a lot and im still at the 11 second thing... 15 seconds if you do a /dig /wait 15 /dig |
