Hello! I'm a new comer and I'm sorry if this might be in the wrong place, I posted it where I thought it'd go, but I digress.

My friend plays FFXI, and I'm getting back into it. He's a blue ninja and I was wondering what class combination would make the best duo comparing to blu/nin?

Red Mage/something would be my pick, but I'm terribly biased.

Once you hit 41, Refresh will make duoing a lot smoother by reducing time spent /healing for mp.

Assuming the BLU has the ability to heal, I'd go with another blu/nin, dnc, or a decent melee that you can split tanking on.

Since you're going to be duoing and your camps will be determined by spell needs at times, I would personally suggest pairing up with someone of like mind. Another BLU or perhaps even a BST would make for great partners in learning Blue Magic while occasionally shifting camps to learn new spells.

Another BLU will be your comrade in arms and share the same goals, but a BST also holds mutual benefits since they charm monsters and BLU could learn magic more safely with another monster taking the brunt of the damage for both him and the BST. This also works out nice for BSTs pre-35, a BLU can watch their backs if something goes wrong with charm or something becomes uncharmed mid-fight..

2 BLU's together is amazing. 2 Headbutts + fighting something that you can possibly MP Drainkiss makes killing things a breeze. I did a couple of BLU duos when spell farming and it always made the whole thing easier.

A RDM/NIN would probably be a better partner once you hit 41 as stated cause of Refresh, plus RDM enfeebs make it an easier time and saves the BLU from putting up his own enfeebs.
