Mp drainkiss wtf

Hi

Ive been using Mp drainkiss to keep my mp up during in parties on colibri round 57, 3/4 of the time i get back less than it costs to cast. is there anything i can do to boost the mp drained except 2hr?

Also the whats the timing for the macro for gravitation >mb

I'm currently CABA before the ws, manual red lotus blade, then using

/magic "sickle slash" <t>
/wait 4
/magic "mp drainkiss" <t>

Ive tried a wait 3 but its just says unable to cast. with wait 4 its rarely MB, the gravitation works fine but the MB fails at least 50% of the time. is it just the lag, does anyone else have this problem?

Ive started just using MP drainkiss when its up and just manual the full thing, the timing is so unforgiving

Stop casting on Colibri; they're very resistant to magic.

If you're going to do it manually might as well use a
/ma "Sickle Slash" <stnpc>
/ma "MP Drainkiss" <stnpc>
macro.

I have to cast it on them cause occasionally I get 50-120 back so its worth the chance. Also Death ray MB for 140 dmg so there not that resistant. The party I was in had no refresher so I was gettin really screwed when it came to keeping mp up.

Im still missing frightful roar and stinking gas from my auto refresh trait. IDK how blue mages keep there mp up in parties, 1-2 mandibular bites and a selc SC an my mp screwed. any advice on keeping MP up in a fast colibri party. I'm so grateful when I ding for the resting for mp break lol

Make your own juices/bring your own drinks or stop casting so much. That's really the only thing you can do in a fast moving party with no RDM. As far as MP Drainkiss not landing for full, you're getting resisted because you are fighting IT mobs, and there is no basic stat that will increase MP Drainkiss accuracy like you would if you were a blm using INT to help lower resist rates.

It's hit or miss until you get enough blue magic skill to lessen the problem, or you can get a hold of some magic accuracy gear. Neither DEX nor INT will affect its resist rate or amount drained. It sucks when you get resisted like that, but mages have to deal with that all the time with Aspir, so it's normal.

ADD: Your AF body should help you with resist rates considerably, since it adds 15 skill. That's the only thing I can think of at the top of my head that will help. You could look and see if there is magic acc gear you can wear now but I don't think it's worth it atm.

3 spells per mob isnt really casting too much. If i was in a party with a blue mage and he/she cast 1 spell per fight i'd think they were having a laugh. I try to do enough so the party knows I'm not just a crap ninja.

The party set up was RNG, WAR, MNK, SMN, BLU, NIN. and they had a pet RDM pl. the smn was always resting for mp but being a front line mage its not possible to sit out half the fight resting every mob.

mages get so sit at the back and rest whenever there not casting, blu have to cast and melee. Ive got a full set of mp recovered while resting gear including dark staff, beak necklace, pilgrims tunic, mobwah belt, barons slops so that helps a bit, but soon as i switch boom no tp. Rev you must be my long lost brother because that sounds exactly like me.

Juices can go a pretty long way, I carry Melon Juice because the items are pretty cheap and you can carry a even amount. By even amount I mean that the recipe calls for 1 Melon and 1 Thundermelon so it is a 1:1 ratio instead of 1:3 ratio like Yagudo Drinks. I haven't partied with my BLU since I got my mog satchel, but if it is utilized correctly, you'll be able to drag around some pre-made drinks and also the ingredients to make them for when you run out. The problem with juices are that they don't last very long, but they are way better than nothing. Especially when the RDM is not able to refresh you as much as you'd like. I was in a party once with a RDM, WHM, PLD, BLU, and DRK. DRK never really got refreshed. I got a few refreshes and the WHM started whining so even though I was last in the rotation, I ended up missing out on a few refreshes because the RDM had to change up the rotation so the WHM would stop yelling. So during that time the juices were pretty nice, would've been even better if we were in Aht Urghan with sanction refresh.

If you have /DNC available, you can Aspir Samba on those Colibri for MP. On top of that Quickstep for evasion down is a bonus for the front-line.

Could try fiddling around with cheaper spells and comparing their damage:MP ratios. E.g. is 2 Mandibular Bites more damage than 5 Bludgeons? For that matter, is your Death Ray MB worth more than 3 Bludgeons? Give Feather Storm some love, too. It's a very neglected spell for how good it is.

Also, FoV Refresh saves you from using juices for the first hour of EXP. That way you get more mileage out of your juices.

Melon juice is a bit high for me, I could do pinapple juice tho with my cooking skill and as it levels, i can upgrade to melon when my cooking skill gets higher.

Dancer is not really viable sub for blue mage at this level, you loose dual wield and utsemi, Id rather not get an unprotected colibri tp attack cant remember the name, they sting tho. If i was going to loose/nin Id go /thf but only at 60 when i can sata death scissors ).

Bludgeon is a funny one, for starters its a 3 hit spell so 30 tp to the mob compared with 10tp from a mandibular bite. plus colibri are weak to piercing damage, bludgeon is blunt damage, when i tried it got bout 40 dmg compared to 140 mandibular bite. Its better to 1 1 hit for 3 times the damage than do 9 hits for the same.

I didnt spend all those hours to get the higher spells to just use spells that Ive had since i was like level 12 lol. once I get my level 59 back, delevelled to get feretic rip (see pet peeves) Ill be able to equip my vermy again. so If i get vermy going, sanction refresh and juice I'm lookin and about 4-5 mp per tick depending on juice. hmmm mite just work )

The play-style or usage of BLU/DNC is different from BLU/THF or BLU/NIN.

When you only got 40 damage from bludgeon, it's because you missed some hits with it. Multihit spells get pretty inconsistent with damage when you're fighting ITs without a lot of acc. I'm speaking from experience as a 65 blu. That being said...

Yeah mages sit but that wasn't my point. My point was your resists are normal. You can't do anything about them. Not until you get more blu skill or you can use your AF body.

I know you only cast around 3 spells, and it's not a lot honestly, but unfortunately that's too much for you in that situation. Lower it to 2 spells or even 1 spell outside of actual self skillchain. If I were you I'd save mp for skillchain and that's it. If the party is moving fast then mobs are dying quickly and debuff spells are useless. Your DoT from swords is good enough that you can just do that until it's time to use your TP. In the end you'd be getting TP faster anyway which will let you skillchain more often, whether it's a self-skillchain or not.

I'm not advocating this as the way to play normally. But if you're in a fast moving party with no refresh I'm saying that this is a real choice to make your MP last in that situation. Melon Juice is a another viable option. If you're serious about being able to deal with that situation, then get your cooking skill up. Even auto refresh wouldn't really be enough in that situation, but combined with sanction refresh and juice, it should really help.

But I need to ask, if you're casting 3 spells and running out of MP, how are you handling it now? You use spells for one fight and then no spells for another? Cause you made it sound like you were running out of MP each fight or after a couple of fights. In that situation I'd rather be able to melee and self skillchain regularly than constantly finding myself without MP. Either way you're going to have to stop casting, whether you decide to do it yourself or are forced to becasue you're out of mp. Your options are either juice, less casting, or sit down and heal every other fight. Juice will help. Less casting will help. A combination of both will help tremendously. I'm pretty sure you don't want to /heal while everyone is fighting.

I like to keep myself above 250 mp, 300 if possible for teh start of the fight just in case anything goes wrong with the party I can still help out with the healing.

Last night I had an amazing party that worked perfectly. RDM SCH WAR PLD BLU THF. Sanction refresh, and after I got the glaka rdm to realise that I wasnt using my mp because I wasnt getting refreshed so i had to hold back he realised and put me 2nd on the refresh order after the PLD. It was brilliant even nailed a MP drainkiss for 141 mp drained.

It was a 55 party in waojam woodlands, we got aggro from a stray air elemental and everyone bolted, for sum reason the thf pulled another bird lol. level sync got switched off so I was back up to 59. elemental started casting aeroga 3 which 3 of us got out of range, then it started casting tornado, no thanks. jumped on a choco and ran away, got a message barsha learns feather tickle lol, the 71 war fought and killed the bird and the ele chased off after the rdm and depopped. apart from that was a rockin party.

It seems to me...

Auto Refresh + Sanction Refresh + Vermy + a Juice (or no juice) = MP not a problem.

Maybe I'm missing something here.. and if you you did all that with a RDM in party........... :D

Auto refresh is active all the time, sanction refresh is only active below 50% and I dont like going that low if I can help it just in case something goes wrong I can wip out 3 300+ magic fruits in 15 seconds if I have above 50% hp. Ite enough to save the party. Vermy - you Do Not melee in a vermy against IT mobs when youve got a SH and the blue AF for magic attacks so thats not on at all except in my resting macro, and as for juice I havent got the room for juice until I get my mog satchel on the 19th (when I can store the ingredients and make a few when we get a break)

So unless the RDM refreshes the mp goes down fast. The last parties Ive been in have been with Galka rdm too, they havent got the mp to be as on the ball with refreshes healing, hasting the melee etc cause there always having to spam aspir and rest for mp.
