Re: mandibular bite vs. death scissors

Death Scissors is your better option. It's more consistent damage and works much better with SA since it's one attack and not multi-hit like Mandi Bite. SA only adds the damage bonus to the first attack, so usually multihit spells aren't the best option for SA.

Death Scissors also makes better use of your stats with a 60% Str modifier when used with CA. Mandi Bite has a less impressive str +20% and int +20%. Death Scissors is the kind of spell that looks like it was made for SA, so I would play around with it if I were you. But I've seen people do around 700-900 damage with it at 60 and at higher levels as high as 1500 dmg with top gear.

Re: mandibular bite vs. death scissors

Both are single hit spells.

EDIT, utter fail, read Sickle Slash there.

Death Scissors has a 60% Str modifier on it, while Mandibular Bite has a 20% Str/Int modifier. While both of these spells damage is affected by TP when CA is used, it seems that Death Scissors' damage increases much more than Mbite's damage does.

IMO use Mandy Bite by itself, and self SC with Vorpal Blade > Sickle Slash for Reverbration, or use Sneak Attack with Death Scissors. Mbite is a much cheaper spell for damage, you also don't have to worry that DS was used about 10 seconds ago, and now you have 100% TP and would like to SC, but you are stuck waiting on recast timers.

Also, the 700-900 damage Death Scissors at lvl 60 is going to only come about when you have 80+ TP and just do either a CA+DS or SACA+DS.

Though I suppose it might be possible to do a Vorpal > SACA + DS and have the SACA+DS do 700+, but I'm doubtful.

Re: mandibular bite vs. death scissors

I would tend to favor self SC when you can, SA + death scissors when you can't self SC, and TA+Mandy bite onto the tank whenever you can.

Unless you have a TA partner, you won't be able to CASATA+DS onto the tank, and the other melee probably won't appreciate it if you do it onto them.
