My Mood: | Learning blue spells
Hi just a question, ive read all the other posts and no one mentions it. As far as learning blu spells is it just the blue magic skill that matters? Ive had people that tell me that INT+ helps with the spell learning and was advised to gear accordingly. Ive learnt spells that i wasnt able to learn successfully after an INT boost from a melon pie but because learning blu spells is so random i'm not really sure if it makes a difference. I use a gear set that gives me INT +18 and ive never spent more than an hour learning a spell and Ive got a few on the first try. Can any 1 confirm or deny the INT also affects blu spell learning rate. Even the Blu AF sword has INT +1 on it.

The INT thing sounds like a hoax.

I dont know if its just a myth or not but i still keep my int + gear on when I'm trying to learn stuff. If it doesnt help it doesnt hinder either i suppose, just wanted to know if any one knew for a fact its just a myth. My Blue magic skill is far from capped. I need a party of the right level for a change, think its possible to hit mobs in campaign or besieged for skillups at 41?

I'm never going to be able to hit anything in either, the idea is to spam AOE spells and home it hits a few of them, specifically things like poison breath and blastbomb. as long as the mob is engaged to someone my pathetic damage wont build up hate in theory, thats if it even works at all. ill let you know if/when i get a whole army on my ass soon as i try it lol

You can't get skillups with campaign tags on. I've never really packed on INT+ gear, and I don't feel I've ever spent ridiculous amounts of time farming a spell... except healing breeze so far >.> INT may help, and if it does, it's probably a small second factor when taking blue magic skill into account. It may not hinder you, but you could also replace the INT gear with some other gear to help round you out more as a mage. |

My Mood: | Re: Learning blue spells lol that's why you don't want to fight the campaign mobs at that level. I think eldieme necropolis (s) is the best area to fight the fortification without being wtfpwned by a random/stray bunch of beastmen. Eventually some random mob will start casting plenty of AoEs so that mob that is fighting some other person while you attack it from behind is gonna pwn you.

Capped Blue magic skill really helps when it comes to learning spells, but just like any career BLU will tell you, there will be the occasional spell that will give you a bitch, for example, my first bitch spell was Refueling from the clusters. I went with some BLU friends to Mount Zayholm to learn it, and after several bomb clusters, I have yet to get the damn spell. Asides from that, Ive learned all my spells on the first if at most, fourth try without any sort of INT boost. As far as skilling up is concerned, BLU can solo extremely well so skill ups shouldnt be a problem for you. Edit: As far as Campaign goes, I have yet to get hit, or catch aggro, from Campaign mobs while I dont have tags on. AoE's from mobs also dont hit you (at least thats from my personal experience).

From my personal experience, having Blu skill capped is a must, AF gloves help a ton, and I use to crank on Charisma gear. With that set up I would get spell after about the 2nd time the mob used said ability. Note, that on magic that is higher level than you, you can still spend an hour+ trying to learn the spell. Overall it's just random, my Charisma build may have been a fluke or just plain luck, but it worked for me. |

Ive heard the very same thing, that CHR helps with learning BLU spells, but it may be the same as with INT.............too bad theres no real way of testing it.

I tried it, spammed some aoe spells and got some good 0.3 skillups mainly from poison breath. ran out of my and went well out the way of the battle to rest up........ can anyone guess what happened. my mob must have killed everyone who was attacking it and ran accross the map to come aeroga 3 me for 760 damage. I shot death and i didnt even see it coming. And as i was miles out the way resting there was no way i was ever going to get a raise, lesson learnt dont spam aoe spells unless your campaign allies dont suck. I didnt go back.

My Mood: | Re: Learning blue spells Ouch. I remember when the NM Yagudo came out in Sarumogue Champaign (S) and I swear that bastard popped at the Fortification. I saw him out of the corner of my eye and started moving, nobody fought him and he killed everybody in that row lmao. I moved to the other side of the fortification and he came down there and killed us all.

Why not just solo Even Matches for a while and spam your low level low mp spells? At level 41 i found very few mobs that posed a significant threat to BLU. If you are having trouble finding mobs the right level you can use the skill calculator on ffxi-atlas.com. If you want to fight mobs that are your level instead of your skills level just find out what you should be capped at and put that in there.
