After doing some research into what i should synth after level 79 where i currently am, I decided on adaman sheets. This perplexed me slightly as never before have you been able to synth sheets before ingots for any synth. However Somepage and alla had the synth listed as capping at 85, so i figure why not must be right.

Now it turns out another smither in my ls is using adaman sheets to skill on past 90. And pointed me towards KIs crafting list, which does indeed list adaman ingots -> sheets as a 95 capping synth.

I have since been pointed in another direction for leveling my smithing past 79 and onwards to 100.

Now to my question. What does adaman sheets actually cap at? Is it 95? Is it 85? is it somewhere in between? Im anoyed that i didnt check KI before hand, but seeing 2 sources listing it at one cap i figured was good enough. Luckily i only tried 7 synths, 6 successful, 1 crit fail and 0 skill for them all.

Interesting how KI has it at 95... That sure confuses things a lot... Just my personal preference tho. I trust ffrecipe more than anywhere else. Follow by mystery tour. So I'll go with the 85 cap.

Another thing is, even with +5 skill from gear and support, you will still be 11 skill below 95 right? But you success 6 times with only 1 fail. 95 sounds very unlikely, seriously.

How was smithing from 0 to 79? I'm planning to take on smithing too. 30 smith at the moment. Would like to hear your thoughts on this craft ^^

Ive enjoyed smithing since i started it. Easy enough to make money and easy enough synths. I try to avoid all forms of armour and weapons unless im looking to make them for personal use or someones asked them of me. Consumables is definately the ideal market to aim for. So ingots, sheets, scales, theyre all your friends.

Darksteel is a great money maker especially if you learn the mining points in gusgen mines and just spend a few hours there you can easily work up a stack of these.

As for the levels, i thought it has to be lower than 95 due to my successes in crafting them so far. Im just confused when a mate said they are skilling on them after 89... maybe time to find some high level crafters on bahamut and ask them.

heh. Im stood spamming the Guild npc to check recipes now, he gives me themultiple one with the key item. Trying for solo one still anyway.

Ok the guild npc gave me the recipe at level 79 - adept rank. So im thinking its gotta be 85 cap ty for the help ^^

Gusgen is a good place to mine now? Like 2 years ago the place was so packed with players & gilsellers I could run around for hours finding nothing ><
How is Gusgen compare to ifrit's or oldton? Or Halvung? Have you tried those places?

I like gusgen mainly as i know where all the points are. Ifriits i find for all the magic aggro and such you have to contend with its too much hassle, especially when for the most part you find yourself digging iron sand -.-

Havent tried halvung for digging yet, aparantly though the results are about the same as that of Gusgen, darksteel and gold being what your after.

Newton and oldton are good if yoru after moblin parts / aluminium ore. Newton tho has the same aggor issues found in ifirits tho.

Don't take up smithing. I'm warning you because I've been stuck at 81 for the past... year and a half. All the botters took up smithing so they made more profit and thusly most of the items up for smithing are by botters that got up to 60 or so.

I've seen it on our Auction Houses on Remora, just giving you a heads up on a long non-profitable road ahead of you. Sometimes I've wished that I've taken up Alchemy or Woodworking Instead. But it's too late for me, stick with your fishing to make profit or Wood Working to fix your rods, but AVOID SMITHING (unless you just want to take it to 60).

This skill has to cap around 85 tho, got a 0.1 last night doing it so ever hopeful :D Gimme 100 now!

Well I'm taking smith just because I want to be a smith >.> haven't thought much in terms of profit. Right now I cook on my mule, so taking up a new craft won't really affect my current income lol ; ; except I'm fishing much less now.

Is Ifrit worth mining if you're going after adaman? That's nice info about the fire sand, but there's no where else you can get adaman can you?

Ifirts is ok for adaman. its the only place i know of to find it anyway and at 100k an ore, its not to be dismissed. The problem with it is the hassle to mine there. if your exping a BST there im sure you coudl mine at same time though. Generally i stay to gusgen, for i know i can find enough darksteel to make a stack every couple of hours. While Ifrits cauldron does have it, you end up getting so much crap there that i find it worthless going there.

Edit, i meant iron sand not fire sand sorry :D

Have you found out whether this LS mate of yours is lying or not? Unfortunately, the vast majority of LS are filled with people finding the need to compete with each other, never mind the fact that they are all in the same LS and should be after solidarity and need to look after each other (I had a friend who was lied to by LS Mates whom he trusted with regards to farming beastmen blood and they purposely lead him to hunt for non-existent mobs in various zones ... all because they didn't want competition themselves)

There is a strong possibility that whoever compiled that list on KI made a typo. It is not uncommon to find typical typing errors riddled in these FAQs, which is a shame and a testament to how much the authors of these FAQs really care about their work...
