Smithing moneymakers
Pls add your suggestion / your way to make money with blacksmithing in here.. Don't forget to add what lvl smithing it needs /doh

It depends on the server also so pls add that as well m..(. .)..m

I'm server lakschmi lvl 66 blacksmithing, leveling it toward lvl 75 for darksteel ingots desynth from antican pauldrons..

Haubergeon was good profit but with the price D ingot 5.6mil and haubergeon 4mil not anymore. That's in lakschmi.

Re: Smithing moneymakers
I'm not a blacksmith, but I did a little research for you and this desynth seems like it would give you good results.

Smithing (19) Lightning Crystal + Goblin Helm
Result: Bronze Ingot
HQ #1: Iron Ingot
HQ #2: Steel Ingot
HQ #3: Steel Ingot

Prices in Jeuno as of two minutes ago:

Goblin Helm - 1k each
Lightning Cluster - 4k each

Bronze Ingot - 2k each or 15k stack
Iron Ingot - 4k each or 42k stack
Steel Ingot - 7k each or 70k stack

It's not on the order of millions, but it seems like it would generate a slow, steady profit in chunks of 20k-50k, which is what I'm used to as a cook. Also, if I'm not mistaken this desynth has an HQ4 of Gold Ingot. I know for sure I've seen someone making Gold Ingots from Goblin Helms in Port Jeuno, but I'm not 100% certain Lightning was the crystal used.

Hope that's helpful to you.

It's about like that on Asura too. Last I checked steel ingots were actually 10K each but I suspect the price may have lowered a little since then

Re: Smithing moneymakers
Yeah, I'm a desynther as well. The only problem is that with desynthing, even if you're server levels ahead of the cap, you still have a high chance of failures. I buy Goblin Armor and Moblin Armor for 1-2k each, and I farm a ton of Thunder Elementals. I can get a Stack of Cotton thread with 3 synths at most. Cotton Thread sells for 20-25k a stack. So I usually do that to make gil. It's not tons of gil, but it's gil!

I was making Moblin Weave, which was 50k each, but it's dropped back down to 20k a piece. I think a lot of people don't realize that you can do these desynths, and make a lot of gil. Even with the high chance of failures.

Re: Smithing moneymakers
Quadav Backplate: 1k
Thunder crystal: 300g?
Result 1: Bronze Ingot 1k
Result 2: Iron Ingot 5k
Result 3: Darksteel Ingot 35k

For my server at least.

The only problem is, farming Quadav Backplates sucks and there isn't many in the AH. Though I don't think the prices of them will go up any time soon, because it seems any time there is any in the AH, while they sell like hotcakes at 1k, if someone over charges, it never sells. I thank the Ragnarok Backplate buyers for not letting prices go up. =)

Just crystals. Break the clusters into crystals to use them.

Re: Smithing moneymakers
You're only lvl 15. I wouldnt worry too much about it right now. Theres plenty of ways of farming and such to fund crafting. Trying to pay for crafting and xp'ing at lvl 15 will probably only drive you crazy. You're not going to break this game in a few weeks. Best bet is to just slow down and take your time. Besides, its more fun if you stop and smell the roses once in a while.

I know they were mentioned, but on Fairy antican pauldrons sell for 2k apiece and either give 1 bronze ingot or 1 darksteel ingot. HQ success rate is usually somewhere b/w 1 in 3 and 1 in 4. You really have to either farm them yourself or camp the AH, since they sell w/in minutes of being put up for sale.
Oh, stacks of bronze ingots sell for 15-20k and darksteel ingots sell individually for 35-40k and stacked for around 400k.

pick another job 5-9 and raid Ghelsba Outpost for Fire Crystals and they sell 4-5k on my server or raid Saruburata(sp) and slaughter the crawlers for silk thread, 1 stack of 12 sells for ~20k. you can definately fund War to 30 and beyond, including mithkabobs doing that. then once you've gotten more established, then start crafting. you'll have some extra funds by then, that if you loose a synth, you won't go psyco for loosing all your gil on 1 synth.

I don't know much about smithing myself, but wind crys + 2 flint stones (goldsmithing), fire + copperx4(smithing?) or fire + copperx3 + tinx1(goldsmithing?), fire + beastcoinx4 (smithing)

the first ones you get for killing worms, beastcoins from beastmen (steal is best), kill appropriate creatures for crystals, you start working on your skills with almost 0 gil expenditure and can bring in quite a bit of gil, especially for starting out.

for a little pay, insane markup > wind + chocobofeather x2 (7gil ea)> 6 fletchings, do it 2x and sell stack in sandy for 1.5k gil. well, that works for valefor
