Skill gains are "tiered" depending on your level.
1-50 is fast skill gain. You can get up to .5 on skillups in a single synth in this range if you attempt stuff that's hard enough.
50-70 is slower skill gain. You can only get up to .2 at most, with possibly the very rare .3 if you're trying things way out of your normal range (+11 or more levels).
70-100 is even slower skill gain. .1 is the rule, .2 is rarer than hen's teeth.
On top of that, desynthesis formulas are incredibly stingy with skillups. I think I've received maybe 10 total in my crafting career, after thousands of desynths, and those were on lower level desynthesis recipes (level 16-32). I can't imagine trying to skill up past 60 with desynthesis.
