My Mood: | Black Mage macros?
Hey everyone, So I'm currently at level 40 on BLM, and am noticing my arsenal of spells is growing far beyond the point of being able to easily manage with one macro set. Is there a macro guide for BLM anywhere, or could someone tell me how they organize their macros? |

It's really a personal thing. For me I had one book for Blm/Whm, Blm/Rdm, & Blm/Sch. Basically, I'd have one line (20 macros) for all whm type macros, 1 line for (20 macros) for all nuking and a few of my most used enfeebles, and 1 line (20 macros) for buffs and other misc stuff. Of course, there is a lot of tweaking in there to get it just right but you know what spells you use the most often and those are the ones that should occupy the first 2 lines of macros, imo.

Alright, this is some useful info. Currently I have 4 books, I for gear swaps and set changes and buffs, one for single target elemental, one for AoE elemental, and one for debuffs. It's likely to change to more of Malacites style after I level farther and get AM and stuff. But for now this is working. |

For am alterative, I use just gearswaps on L2 for offensive spells and sleep actually cast from macro with the rest from spell list. Other side being utilities (Ss, blink, Reraise, rest, stand ) I find it works well as equipment is the same for all nukes of each element. |

When I whizzed BLM from 40 or so to 75 (I hadn't really tried much before than, mostly leveling it as a subjob), what I ended up doing was using one row of 10 for AM, another row for the current -ga spells, and a third row for the current non-ga spells. (FWIW, I use PS2, so I was shoulder-buttoning them, and sometimes changing rows.) When it was time for a burn, I would copy two or three of them down to another row along with the sleeps, an emergency Thunder II (for slivers of HP), stoneskin, blink, etc., and change the tier of the spells to whatever was appropriate for the camp and the level sync. That way I could keep the nukes close to the sleeps for fast access. For infrequent spells like reraise and protects, I would get the keyboard and type them on the command line. (I can type fast, and the ESC key lets me abort without getting lost in a mire of sub-menus. When WHM in a mission/Nyzul party, about half my spells come from the command line.) I never did update the non-ga row of macros past Stone IV, which made it perfect for elemental farming in the areas from the crags all the way up to Qufim. I was one-shotting water elementals in Pashhow with Thunder III during the RMT water crystal frenzy a few months ago, with the occassional Stone IV -> thunder elemental for my own crafting. I should point out that this compact set of macros has made it possible to still keep to one book (10 rows of 20 macros, with one macro per row of 20 being /sea <t>) for everything. I suppose that's one reason why I haven't bothered to level DNC or a "real DD" job, because there wouldn't be enough room. (Other than BLM nukes, and a Ginger Cookie + Dark Staff + /heal macro, I don't use gear swaps. Especially solo. Casual? Damn right.) EDIT: and I haven't added AM2 to my macros yet either. But I don't do endgame, so I don't need them much.

I used different books for different activities due to equipment swaps being different. They were mostly identical. L = Offense; R = Defense/Support I had a home row with my most used spells and idling macro, and then less used things above and below. L Three most recent DD spells, two most recent -Ga spells, Sleeps, Elemental Seal. R Highest Cure and Curaga, Divine Seal, Stun, Gravity, Bind, Drain, Aspir, idle L-1 Older DD spells, AM, Sleepgas R-1 misc.defensive/other spells L+1 Misc. enfeebles, misc. junk R+1 Sneak, Invis, Escape, Manafont, misc. junk Then SCH came out and it really changed how I laid things out because it was too confusing switching from SCH to BLM.
