My Mood: | My First Manaburn Party
Sunday morning I logged in and went out to Vunkerl Inlet to try some Blm solo on Bst bats. While I'm there I get a /tell asking me if I want to party. Things were going slow for me so I said yes, and got an invite to a party at the south of the map pulling a Gigas Helmsman tiger. Now this was my first manaburn party, so my experience is limited with them, but I loved it. We synced to me at level 57, there were 5 Blm and a Cor giving Corsair/Evoker rolls. Half the time we one-shotted the tiger with Firaga II, but if it did have hp left we just did a quick stun while someone threw out a Thunder II or Fire II. I ended up getting to 63 before having to leave. Anyways, just wanted to say this is a great camp for manaburn. I'm sure there are others even better, but this was my first and it was a great experience.

How do manaburn parties work exactly? Can someone provide a rough draft of what to do or the strategy behind it? Thank you |

Multiple BLMs, trying to nuke something as quickly as possible, before it has a chance to kill them. The simplest one is a full party of level 50+ BLMs, who all start casting Freeze at the same moment. With the right target, that should kill it immediately. Combine that with the relatively fast repop rate of SMN or BST pets, giving you chains up to 4 or 5, and you can get a lot of XP very fast. Depending on the camp, there may also be a rotating order for ES+Sleep II to get the thing to stay still after being pulled.

Sounds like you had fun. Only manaburn parties I can get are at qufim... The strategy behind a manaburn can vary depending on which camp you're at and which level, but the basic idea is that someone pulls a monster and then the blms use their strongest spells in order to kill the monster as quick as possible. Some manaburns will have a tank (mainly at qufim), while others you'll sub ninja so no one takes damage when the hate bounces around. They're really a lot of fun as blm because you don't have to hold back like in normal parties. |
