Am I the only one who never saw the BLMs in the intro movie drop dead?

Also, nitpick, that's Tavnazia in the intro, not San d'Oria.

A lot of the intro movie seems like that. It looks really interesting and cool, then you get into the actual graphics and game play and it feels a lot like SE created the intro movie just to kick you in the nuts later. Anyone else kind of disappointed about how melee centric the game became over the years? We never did get Meteor, Ultima, or Comet. We had to bitch for years to even get the Avatar Merit nukes. For most of the game now, you're pretty useless as a caster. Then endgame shows up and everyone wants BLMs, SMNs and WHMs. 70 levels of not being able to buy a party, and now you're actually desired. Sometimes I wonder about the dev team... Ok, MOST OF THE TIME I wonder about the dev team.

If you know people that are meleeburning for 70 levels, then you know morons.

OK, everyone knows morons, but you know what I mean. Meleeburn doesn't become even marginally viable until the mid-50s and even then only on colibris, not on any other kind of mob.

Meleeburning in general - on mobs with reasonable stats like mamool ja or trolls - doesn't start until you have merited people with endgame gear in your party, at which point measuring their power by their level pretty much completely breaks down and you're really getting VT exp from DC mobs. So obviously that's going to be pretty f'ing broken.

I don't hate Daddy for letting my birth dad die, especially not after being in fights and stuff myself! Stuff like that happens, and it's not his fault the demons went after my birth dad with a soul-damaging weapon or any way Daddy coulda known that's what that weird greatsword was!

I have only one response to that backstory... your town has bagpipe music. And not the good kind of bagpipe music that leads into a punk song you can hum while smashing someone's face into the bar, either. This is the bad kind... the kind you pray will stop soon. The kind they play at every funeral ever. The kind that makes grown Scotsmen leave the bar to find somewhere else to drink. The kind that melted Rush Limbaugh's brain. At least I think it was bagpipe music, could be oxycontin, but I'll assume bagpipe music til proven otherwise.
