So I've been able to get good xp in campaign with my 75 thf, pld, sam, and nin, but my 73 blm struggles. I've yet to come up with a good strategy to get good xp in campaign battles. I initially thought it'd be good to go and stack 3 elemental DOT debuffs and poison 2 and bio 2 on as many mobs as possible. Thus having 6+ mobs with alot of DOT, but this only netted me like 900 xp or so. Whats the best strat out there for blm, and whats the most xp you've gotten in a campaign battle on blm? The only other thing i can think of is just go from mobs thats have been engaged and drop a tier 4 nuke on each one until run out of mp, rest, then start again? Spreading out tier 4 nukes wouldnt steal hate as long as you are only casting one on each mob, only problem would be if the tank dies, someone else cant out dd your tier 4 (which would be sad) and the F'er comes looking for you...

I pick and choose the mobs that I'm gonna nuke very carefully. I make sure there are multiple people on it and that its at least 1/4 down in hp before I nuke. Until then some debuffs, DOT's and cures because melee for me is out since my skill level is quite low. Besides, I'm tender and being in range for aoe's isn't really a very good idea. LOL Don't forget to use those job abilities whenever possible since you get points for that too. As for as DOT's go, only your initial dmg counts as far as I know. So when it hits and says 50 dmg, you get points for that but the actually dot until it wears you do not.

Can't skill up with Allied tags, but it'd be nice if i could raise staff skill while doing campaign battle... XD

You can't hit crap with 0 skill. Skill up staff and use it.

This sounds like a good idea to me, I could probably use my level 73 club and/or staff to melee, they're both capped for WHM (+4 merits in club). It would be nice to be able to do something significant in Campaign on BLM ... maybe I'll see if {sneak attack} {spirit taker} works equally well. Then again, who knows?

You can get to the skill equivalent of level 50 by banging on fortifications (I finally capped staff and club to level 50 deep in Eldieme the other day), but then you still can't hit the campaign mobs for anything. And even if you did, they would either swat you down, or fall to the zerg rush before you could get enough hits to matter. If you have a PLD (/DNC?) friend who can tank one for you long enough for the zerg rush to ignore it, you might get a few skillups.

The best but hardest way is to level PLD to 75 and bang on campaign mobs with a staff. lol

You can easily cap your magic skills if you understand how hate works, but unless you are way behind, it's usually not worth the danger to go tagless compared to skilling up in Besieged. And you can't level Enhancing tagless anyhow. I've been working on a guide for skilling up WHM (and BLM, RDM) magic skills tagless/besieged, but combat skills are just going to suck unless you can get someone to tank something Tough while you plink at it.

Yall are over thinking it, I put on RR @ 67BLM as whacked away at the fortification just like everyone else throwing out Earth crushers when i hit 300TP

My highest xp gain in one campaign was 2100~ via this method I caught it pretty much near the beginning and just kept at it until it finished. This was before i knew where to upgrade my tags XD

BTW This was in Sauramogue_S, I'm now 74.. but only because i got tired of doing only campaigning and move to tigers in Vunkerl_S

Hmmm Looking at the xp calculator.. i musta've done alot more that day, but my strategy still stands.. i always some how get 1000~ just be whackin away at fort

I think that means renewing the tags. As in going to the C.A., getting an evaluation, then getting tags again. There are caps to many of the various ways you get campaign battle XP. If you keep whacking on things for a 1hr+ campaign battle without changing your tags, you will eventually hit caps and not be getting any more XP.

whoops, I meant my badge/rank or whatever. But yea, there was one instance where i got over 2k xp before i knew that i could go up in rank
