I hit 73 in Campaign Battle today. After getting the map and key to Mount Z., I returned to Whitegate and saw a shout for tier 1 Assault. I figured I should look into that as I've yet to try it out. So I looked up the rewards. I'm not really impressed with the Yigit set, apart from maybe the pants.
Is there any real need for me to get that stuff? BLM 75 | RDM 37 | WHM 42 | SCH 56 | BST 22

The Yigit set is without a doubt the best set for MP healing in the game, for almost any mage job. With the entire set equipped you get +8hMP, but best of all you can keep Auto-Refresh going whilst you sit.
Other than MP healing though, the only pieces of Yigit gear I use to nuke on my BLM are the Turban and the Crackows, and I use those only because I have nothing better at the moment. The hands are pretty nice too but you can't beat the +15 Elemental Skill on AF. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 01-14-2008, 12:20 AM | #3 (permalink) | | <3 Valkurm Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: Florida Posts: 960 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 57 Thanked 24x in 16 Posts Gil: 8,886 Bank: 7,245 Total Gil: 16,131 Donate | Re: Do I need Yigit? Yigit feet are quite good, the head is currently the best piece for ~ga III spells, but Demon Helm +1 and Wizards Pesatos +1 beat it out on Tier IV and AMII iirc. Body is ok, but somewhat pointless if you have Errant/Wizards Coat +1 - the 1mp/tick refresh isn't that amazing if you have a decent hmp setup.
Wizard Gloves are good if you need skill to land hits accurately, but if/when you are meriting on Blm, the Yigit Hands are better (you should already have enough skill to land nukes).
It's not a *bad* set to be honest, there are some better pieces elsewhere though. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 01-14-2008, 03:15 AM | #5 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: CET Posts: 52 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 4x in 4 Posts Gil: 1,415 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,415 Donate | Re: Do I need Yigit? Basicly, the Yigit feet are the single best BLM piece for maxing your nukes, R.Pumps can be usefull to for a fast cast setup if needed.
With the price of weskit the Tigit body isn't all that good and the hands are only good if you don't have Zenith Mitts already(I think they're the best for maxing nukes if you don't have Z.mitts or Morrigan's) One Windurst to rule them all
One Windurst to conquer the others
One Windurst to find the others

I'm unimpressed with most of the Yigit set for any mage job, to be honest, though I suppose it does benefit BLMs more than any other mage except perhaps Scholar. The feet are nice, but you can find equivalent or better pieces in all other slots for purposes of nuking.

At least thats the feeling I get on Midgarsormr. The people manaburning here don't even bother with food. When I first hit 72 and got my first invite there, I was messing around with optimum +hMP and doing a gear swap for every single spell. I would pop a Melon Pie +1 every hour, and always end up with massive amounts of MP more then anybody else. The thing was though, I couldn't DO anything with that MP by myself. So I would have to sit down and wait for everyone else to heal MP.
After about a week, I toned it down. A lot. Only using Ginger Cookies, a basic +hMP gear set, a basic +INT set and elemental stave swaps. And I still ended up with more MP then everyone else 15 minutes into the party. Eventually I dropped the cookies, and now I am only using the basic INT, basic healing, and elemental staffs, and I get along just fine. | Originally Posted by Ellipses | | Really, it's just like pretty much every question about this game that begins with "Why." Yigit Feet are IMO on par with Goliard Clogs for the best piece to get for your nuking set (unless you happen to have the complete Morrigan's set).
Personally I use Rostrum Pumps F/T since I don't have any of the above, they're nicer than Wood Ledelsens, and I use them in my Stoneskin set. However, the rostrum pumps are also good for certain situations.
I'm a blinking macro-whore, and I use both of these feet actually. The yigit feet for nuking obviously, and the rostrum pumps for enfeebles, buffs, drain and aspir. Both feet have their uses for for nuking, Yigit are my choice. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 01-18-2008, 04:24 AM | #12 (permalink) | | Duxburger Join Date: Dec 2003 Location: UK Posts: 658 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 2 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post Gil: 6,653 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 6,653 Donate | Re: Do I need Yigit? Looks like I am in the minorty here but I really like the Yigit set, I use it every day.
For my BLM its not so usefull granted, I use feet alot, Body for healing and Hat for MAB.
For other jobs however I use Yigit all the time. I use it alot for WHM RDM and BRD in merit parties and HNM (not RDM) camping for convenience. No one piece is "bad" for any of those jobs and the refresh effect gives a nice bonus too. For those mages out there like me who don't like juggling 40+ pieces of equipment per 75 job every day Yigit rocks. - Never Underestimate The Power Of A Duck!
