Is it to have spider/enfeebling torque? I tried maat today, my very first ever maat fight (yes yes, and I have been playing since near NA release). My strategy was: Flare >>> Ele Seal >>> Sleep2 >>> Manafont >>> Freeze >>> Stun >>> Sleep2 >>> -aga3 It all went well until my second sleep was resisted twice. Normally, I'm very good with sleeping things. I had dark staff and Wizard's Coat macro'd in for sleep, but I don't own a spider/enfeebling torque. Would I have won with one of tese? Should I get one?

Enfeebling gear definitely helps. Also helps a little to fight him on Darksday if you're worried about Sleep. You'll probably want the torque anyway if you start doing Dynamis. Getting partially resisted on Sleepga II is extremely unpleasant. ![]() Icemage |

Cap off your INT as much as you can, food, gear, anything. I had +30 INT as a RDM when I fought him and was only resisted once, though my enfeebling skill is probably higher then yours.

I'm gonna try maat at 66 or 67. Definitely picking up Elemental torque and Pens rope for the fight. (waiting for my SH to sell first though, bah!) But really, it depends on the level you fight him at. What level are you greydaze? If you're 70, you should have no problem taking him on w/o the torque. oh yeah! another question for you. How much health did you bring him down to? Off topic: how the hell did you sig do that Zamph......hax! |

Probably the best thing to do, would be to use hi-ethers in the place of manafont, and buy a reraise earring before the fight and use it. That way, when/if you die, you'll have one more chance to one shot him down.....plus you'll be able to stun him and use an aga 3 spell if you're lucky. This is probably what I'm gonna do if I wanna have a chance against him at my level. x.x |

It is definitely possible to kill Maat w/o the torque. I did not have it when I went to fight him. I'm also a hume. I think you just hit a stroke of bad luck. BLM Maat is one of the easiest. I didn't even try to sleep him the second time, I just stunned him after my second nuke, and started casting Firaga III. Maat, in turn, started casting an 'aga. Obviously, mine hit first ftw.

I'm a Hume with the following gear: Black Cloak Wizard's Hat Wizard's Coat Wizard's Tonban Wizard's Gloves DRuid's Slops Wizard's Feet Sapient Cloak Penitent's Rope Genius Rings +1 Moldavite Earring Morion Earring +1 All Staves, with Ice HQ Phantom Tathlum Elemental Torque I switch in items by macro depending on what I've cast. I used Sweet Rice Cake and Yag Drink, plus brought a hi-ether and x-potion. I have every spell up to 70, with the exception of Tornado.

FOr the record i never got a enfeeb / spider torque, i beat him at 70 with mostly sub-par gear, i scored very lucky when he decided enfeebling me was a smart move, i lost to him twice, but third time hes like poison -> bind -> firaga 3 that got stunned -> frost i lol'd

| King of the Oompa Loompas Mythril Star | Re: Maat: How Important... Wow. I didn't even know it was possible to HQ those. Howd you pull that off? o.O On another topic, I took on maat today! I was really nervous about the fight, and I just obtained 67 last night. So, I go and camp the test, get it about after an hour or so, then set up my maat-mashing macro-pallette and trade him the test. I go in, put reraise earring on and activate it. Then I cast Freeze on maat. For some reason, my elemental seal macro wasn't working, and what I didn't realize is that I was supposed to target myself for it to work. -.-; So maat casts Waterga III on me and comes charging at me until I'm down to about 100 health. I manually ES, then I cast Sleep II on him(miracle). I back up a bit and take a breather. Next, I cast Flare, then I was able to stun him and cast waterga III with only 100 health left. and here's my gear, if you're interested: Ice Staff, Fire Staff Wizards Petatos Justaucorps Wizards Tonban Elemental Torque Wizards Gloves Wizards Feet Red Cape +1 Penitents Rope Phantum Earring Moldavite Earring Genius Ring X2 Phantom Tathlum I am one lucky tarutaru..... You don't need the torque, as Maat is extremely resistant to Sleep; no matter how high you pump your enfeebling skill, your Sleep most likely won't stick without the use of Elemental Seal. My strat was this: Stocked up on INT gear, brought the appropriate elemental staves and went in on Iceday. Used a Blink Band before engaging. Freeze -> Elemental Seal + Sleep II -> Manafont -> Flare -> Stun -> Waterga III Worked like a charm.

| King of the Oompa Loompas Mythril Star | Re: Maat: How Important... Great minds think alike. Ice staff aside, I believe I had 34 int counting the apple pie. I could have had extra intelligence going for me, but I wanted to keep the Elemental Torque on and not take any chances with landing my spells.
