new blm
hello, all!
I am fairly new to this game. I played as a whm up to level 20, but I quit for a few months whilst moving. I recently started up again as a hume blm in bastok. I'm sure everyone is quite familiar with how hard it is to gain gil on this game! I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for quest or crafts that would be most profitable for a young blm in bastok. thanks for any advice!

Always have signet on when you kill things to get Crystals to drop. Around Bastok you can also kill Bees for stacks of beehive chips to sell. Those two things alone should make it so that your not hurting for gil.

Re: new blm
Unfortunately, one of the few Bastok quests that's really profitable is for the BLM spell Warp, which you won't want to sell.

You can always farm up Zeruhn Soot to raise your fame and get a little gil at the same time. Mining in Zeruhn makes a nice profit, too, and there's only one mob in there that aggros (the slime in that's in one room). If you want to get a start on crafting, Tsurara (Alchemy), Bronze Ingots (Smithing), and Copper Ingots (Goldsmithing) are a good start. You'll want to buy the ingredients from vendors, of course, if not farm/mine them up yourself.

When you get to a high enough level to do so, farming beehive chips is always a safe bet, and if you go to the hill in North Gustaberg to do so, you can also bring along dark crystals, distilled water, and windurstian tea leaves to make sheep leather from sheepskins.

There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.
<3,

Count your blessings. You could be leveling WHM. BLM isn't really so bad once you get a technique down. Bind, Nuke, Nuke, Nuke, dead. Then rest if necessary, and repeat. Usually I can get a few kills out of one MP pool.

In parties, of course, you won't want to chain nuke like that.

Re: new blm
I can usually get two or three kills out before i have to rest for mp. i am just royally screwed if i cant manage to kill mobs with my nukes. manafont is great, but the 2hr thing has obvious limitations. i dont really mind the time it's taking to lvl. i just worry about overstepping and getting myself killed. ive already experienced that a couple of times! lol

Re: new blm
Heh. Yeah, it'll take some time to figure out what you can and can't easily kill. Once you get Bind things get easier, as you can (at least temporarily) root a mob in place and get a few nukes in uninterrupted.

Also, worms are a BLMs best friend. You can kill them without ever having to engage. Once you get level 9 (and Aero) check out the ones in Konschtat Highlands. They should be really easy kills.
