I was talking to my friend a little while ago, (lvl 52 almost 53 blm) and he told me that next update they will gimp manaburns, any pt w/ more then 2 blms will be gimped I'm guessing the elemental power will be lowered any word or this being true? cause manaburns are awesome!!! and i just got high enough to be in one? Thx for the replys.

Re: manaburn become gimped
Your friend is misinformed (or at least, he's misinforming you). While I'm not saying that that couldn't possibly happen in the next update, nothing has been said to indicate such officially.

They did say that they wanted to make it so that BLM had more reason to EXP in a traditional party, but they said that quite some time ago, and there is no schedule as to when such a change would go through, or even what form such a change would take.

Re: manaburn become gimped
Aelathir, why the hell is there a taru in your avatar?

And this is exactly the kind of shit that pissed me off over at alla, was people saying manaburn was being nerfed, that SE had said so at fan fest.

And then when I point out i've actually gone to fan fest, AND took notes (Which I was kind enough to post LIVE from a freaking PDA out in that freezing cold SoB tent, for over half the event, only missing the rest because of a memory issue on the device.), they never reply to the topic again.

Not even an apology. God those people pissed me off.

k, sorry for ranting on your thread.

Re: manaburn become gimped
Just the thought of it being possibly true is enough incentive for me to try to finish up BC40 for peacock charm sooner. Other than that...it doesn't effect me. I've never been in a mana-burn party, and I'm out of HNM (which I think will suffer a good bit if they add this change).

Re: manaburn become gimped
SE DID say recently that they want blms to party in traditional parties more than manaburns. How they will create the incentive is the question. What the OP posted is possible, but other things are possible too. If they do it, I hope they somehow do something similar with melee burns because black mages are going to be out of luck 70+ if they can't manaburn.

Oh, and Feba, they still talk about you on Alla (I only go because it updates quickly to get my forum fix, and most of the time I'm disagreeing with everyone there. That place is literally INSANE).

Most of the time, when they mention you, it's in the context of, "Goddamnit, you're almost as annoying as Feba was!"

Re: manaburn become gimped
I believe they said they would be adding spells to make it more worthwhile to be in a standard party rather than a burn-type party, not that they were going to gimp more than 1BLM in the same party.

A Manaburn nerf is always 'in the next update.'

All that was said was they wanted to make BLM more appealing to a more traditional party at higher levels. It was never said or hinted at how.

Re: manaburn become gimped
S.E never makes any real anouncment about a job til a week or 2 prior to the update. thats seems to be the only way they ever really do it.Sadly Blm are not appealing in the mid 70's because it becomes TPburn area.

They gimped rngs to kill arrowburns, they lowered rng damage cause they were to strong on endgame hnms/gods. but oddly enough never touched manaburns, or blm damage output. an those blm taru do sick damage on kirin an such, can nuke the hell out of most bcnm's. yeah time to gimp the blm...

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

Re: manaburn become gimped
Doing a lot of damage at endgame is not a reason to gimp a job.

Re: manaburn become gimped
I think the rng "nerf" had a lot more to do with getting rid of arrowburn parties than endgame status.
I've never liked them nerfing jobs to level the playing field. I'd rather see them give incentives and bonuses to other jobs. Anyway, I wonder if the emergence of TPburn parties has delayed them trying to do something about manaburns. Now everyone is happy.

Re: manaburn become gimped
except I still haven't heard of manaburns going over 8k exp/hour. >.> And people can achieve that with PLDs and other "non-burn" jobs. Soooo manaburn still sits as a "colorful alternative" instead of "horribly blows away any other exp" like RNG parties used to and .... pretty much any melee party does now?

Please tell me I'm wrong, as my sister's record is close to 20k/hour in sky with some nins, wars, bards, etc (granted, that party only lasted an hour, but 20k in that hour nonetheless).

Actually alot of endgame had a ton of rng shooting gods while the blm nuked them, an most other DD just sat around. i know i use to watch it go on as i tried to tank them.
