Opinions

Tonban+1: The only +HMP pants there are, still get that +Skill but lose that +Evade that I loved while farming and skilling up. Edit: Apparently not the only HMP pants. Thank you IceMage.

Gloves+1: No reason not to upgrade.

Sabots+1: Pffft, these still suck.

Petasos+1: Looks to be the best all-around hat. With this hat and Errant body or Auto-Refresh coat you get more HMP than with an Auto-Refresh cloak.

Coat+1: Mahatma, Dalmatica and Sorcerer's are better for resting. Weskits and Errant beat this for nuking. +2 Enfeeble isn't worth much. Unless you want the maximum amount of -Enmity this is a waste really.

only if you're over nuking or you have a bad tank should the def, vit eva and resistance matter. xp pt wise, sure it's a little less farming/solo friendly. unless i'm missing something...

Yes. The new set isn't a terrific improvement over what's available at level 75 though. I wonder if these can be stored with normal AF pieces... that might kill it entirely for folks with multiple jobs if it's not possible. Petasos+1 is very nice. Gloves +1 are not a huge improvement since you use +Skill when reducing resists is needed and Zenith for damage when it's not necesarry. Nothing really exciting here, unless upgrading is cheap as hell.

Should be noted that the HQ Lv20 Baron's Slops also give +1 mp recovered while healing, and are not BLM-specific. The Tonban+1 is pretty weak for that reason IMO. Big winners here are the boots and the hat, neither of which have analogs for +hMP.

Has anybody find out info on how to go about getting the +1 verisons? A brand new quest? Or they actually upgrade the existing AF You've had for so long?

You get various items and ancient beastcoins from Limbus, then an NPC in any of the four cities will take them and your AF in exchange for your new AF+1. There's a post on KillingIfrit with more details.

I wonder if you can upgrade every piece and then redo your AF quests...

IMO only the hands are really worth it for the effort. INT on any piece of elemental gear is very nice. The rest of the stats don't seem to merit getting, as the hat can be replaced by Demons Helm+1 for more INT.
