Throw a Rng into a Mnk bone pt and see if you still consider him the hands down strongest DD. On that same note, put a Mnk into a Rng Darter pt and see who comes out on top. Put a Blm into a mobile chaining pt, he wont keep up. Or put any Melee into a Blm PT, what are they going to do?
Damage is situational. You can strut through the game as a Rng thinking you're the best, and then come face to face with CoP Wyrms and have a Sam, Drk, War or Smn beat you very badly in dmg.
Blm's are "Damage on Demand" (I liked that line ), we may not be the highest DD in all situations... but who is? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-30-2005, 01:09 AM | #32 (permalink) | | red means NO Super Moderator Join Date: May 2004 Location: Portugal Posts: 3,081 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 77 Thanked 213x in 125 Posts Gil: 40,807 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 40,807 Donate | this mentality will never stop...
how many times does one need to point out that its not how much one person does? its about the party as a unit
im playing blm, 34 atm, its heaps of fun too, and ive been MBing my ass off to keep myself useful
the blm has the ability to dish out big numbers at one shot, what does that mean? you kill off a mob who's at 10% HP in one shot, which allows the rng to leave the fight a bit sooner to keep the chain alive
ive been partying with friends lately, thf blm blm brd nin nin, the thf gives the nins SO MUCH HATE with fuidama that i can nuke all i want, honestly, i shit you not when i say i nuked 10~15 times a fight without taking serious hate, maybe a slap here and there, but mobs drop like flies, not to mention the other blm too, who usually plays the healer/enfeebler part, ofcourse were all friends and we manage to plan ahead without much confusion, which is rare/impossible with pickup parties | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-30-2005, 06:47 AM | #33 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: May 2005 Posts: 7 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 152 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 152 Donate | Wait... I'm getting the game tomorrow, and in the past games, Black Magic has been my favourite offense, I just didn't know what the best choice would be. 2. ice spells have a higher base damage then water spells (on the same tier)
190 ish waterga bursts is fairly standard, i was bursting 190-210 waterga on mandys depending if food was up or not (hey.. its mandys give me a break, i want to watch my calorie intake)
on the same exact mandy, i would burst 230 with firaga (had 2 SC going and sometimes they would do them on the same mandy)
so Balfree, there is no need to worry, your damage is the same as mine, and concidering that i am a few levels lower, and you were fighting weapons, it would even out
my personal best burst so far was a 507 waterga2 MB as 44 blm only had +23
also.. dont put so much stock into +int... so much bragging about +int.... :dead:
people always seem to forget to notice BASE INT scores | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-14-2005, 03:38 PM | #40 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 8 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 109 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 109 Donate | I was bursting 180 on mandys with thunder in jungle whats your point i wasn't putting anyone down i was just stating that it seemed low for a hume with more base int then me. - ...Escape...
- ...Warp and Warp 2...
- ...Cure and status-Na spells...
- ...debuff spells...
- ...reliable Stun...
- ...the ability to push a button and spew out big damage...
- ...at range and on moving targets...
- ...while giving it hardly any TP...
- ...and wearing the second coolest hat.
It would be completely unfair to other jobs if BLMs also always did the highest damage on top of all that. Recall previous FF games. BLM was never the "best" damage dealer, even WHM's Holy was stronger than their spells. Yet they remained useful because they got a variety of elements, sleep and toad, etc.
Hell, when I started this game all the high level importer BLMs (on this site, no less) were saying that BLMs didn't do much damage and were expected to Cure more than nuke. Basically WHMs that magic burst and Sleep. That was the role I was expecting and hey, I was pretty happy with it. But it turned out differently, didn't it?
