Been wanting to ask this for quite sometime.
It seems no one in the Black Mage section has ever talked about daggers, to my knowledge at least. I might've missed some threads, but I doubt it. Thing is... do you fellow Black Mages use daggers? Ever at all? Do you like it?

Me, I was obsessed with the Combat Caster's set at lv40, it was what inspired me to grind and hit 40 quickly. I bought the dagger for the hell of it, that's my first dagger ever. It's delay was impressive, quicker then my current Solid Wand, it was BLUE and SHINY, it's dmg was much better, etc. From then on, I got a Darksteel Baselard, upgraded into a Darksteel Kris, etc. During farming sessions, I've always used dagger (THF sub; gives access to Cyclone and other goodies), lower delay spam Cyclone went more well with -ga spells then high delay Earth Crusher; that was my though. It also looked kinda cool, always having a staff on my back looked dull at times. I know we have a D rating, and compared to a Staff's B-, it sucks badly, but... -o-

Anyways, BLMs post your thoughts. D;/

I also really like using daggers, with thf or rdm sub its great for farming since you get access to some other weapon skills. I usually either use scythe or dagger for farming but dagger is so much more fun. Now that i'm using rdm though it's even more fun with haste + hornetneedle.

I dont have much motivation to lvl it much further though since unfortunatly only thf main gets any good skills between cyclone and evisceration. What sucks even more is that even at 75 blm cant get evisceration, fortunatly rdm can at 73 so I will probrably lvl it further.

i use an Argent Dagger just to play with while doing whatever. i like subbing rdm and using enspells.

energy drain/steal is overshadowed by spirit taker, imo. earth crusher easily pwns cyc for blm as it has an int modifier instead of agi?/dex?. i *do* enjoy running up to things in kazham and going "SATAviper!" and people will turn around and go "wtf j00 r blm...orz...or something."

blm/nin is my dual poking sub of choice. truthfully though, i can't find any kind of credible combat use for it. welp. the rating is STILL higher than scythe :/

Rating doens't mean a whole lot for farming... and there's not much point meleeing against things that give exp (past lvl 12 or so...)

Anyway... I always killed faster with a staff and hate the gimpy mithra dagger animation. And daggers are expensive. Sold on staves. :p

Dagger is nothing more then to show off, same with Scythe.

Me and my mandibular scythe have a serious love/hate relationship...you don't know how many times i've put her on AH, just to take her off... she skills maybe once every day...501 delay... maybe i'll get a .1, while my friend is running around swinging a B weapon getting .3 .3 .2 .3...

btw coinspinner, what item sprite are the pants in the cloak 'n dagger pic? silk? ...i must have them.

hm yea lol I wasn't saying Staves look terrible, I loved myself when I had C.C. set + Ice Staff, but after using them so much in EXP PT's, I'm saying it's a nice switch. Wasn't trying to compare them, just was wondering if other people liked daggers. Energy Drain/Steal has NOTHING on Spirit Taker, it does DMG and gives MP, etc. Looks good, can't beat. Never. Ever. :spin:

Yes, that seems to be Silk Slacks, lv63. Goes really well with Shaman's Cloak o_o;;

Yup, silk slacks and cloak. You'll need to have them crafted as they're never sold. They may be made for skillup, not a cloth man, but I've never seen any in stock.

Anyone know a pair of pants wearable by BLM that match the Onoko Yukata?

What does everyone think looks cool around town? I'm trying to find a cool looking outfit that matches (mainly). The only 3 peices I care to change are Body, Pants, Hat, with a possible inclusion of weapons. Being a taru, the other parts of outfits really don't match much. Currently:
1 of 5 staves, or Mandibular Scythe (I have the Abyssal Earring....might as well use the +5 scythe, right? )

I was trying to find a pair of blue pants to wear with the Yukata, but I couldn't find any. I also don't like the look of the Errant Houppelande, and personally, if I'm gonna wear a cloak, I'm gonna wear Black Cloak (the only one, imo, that looks half as cool is Vermillion, and I'm not paying 3 million gil just to look cool). What's everyone else wearing?

I've been told it's "teh ugleh", but they can blow me, I think it's hawt. I have black cloak now and think it's even uglier than the tunic model we all wore 8-40 (some even past that) before CoP. I never got a Shaman's Cloak, which loks great on my Mithra... never enough friends online. I'll get a silk one to make up for that. :p

When I get home from work I'll mess with the model viewer to see what a BLM can wear with the Yukata.... I'm thinking Errant or T.M. slops with a Demon Helm. (Yeah... I have no sense for Taru fashion. :p)
