atm, I am literlly locked out of FFXI due to a credit card problem... and my mom is a bitc-... person who is giving me problems. 3 years.... til I am 18... 3 years.... anyway to the point. (Sorry about that )

I am only one exp party away from 60. My friend, Renza, is a co-leader of an up-and-coming HNM LS. They plan to take on Roc/Serket/those type of HNMs. Now here is the problem: before they let me in, I have to be tested. Meaning, if I get a bunch of resist, no LS for me.

Now my INT bonus may be a bit low (I am a Tarutaru btw), ranking at +16 w/o food. I use Windurstian Army Mantle instead Black Cape +1 because I have pride for my country. Here is my eq(to my memory): (sorry for the spelling ><)

Ice Staff
Morion Tathlum
Erudite's Headband (+1 Int, +3 Eva)
AF Body
AF Hands
AF Pants
AF Boots
Windurstian Army Mantle (MP+6 INT+2 AGL+2)
Shaman's Belt (+1 INT, +5 MP)
Black Neckerchief
Zircon Ring
Zircon Ring
Enhancing Earring
Wing Earring (Yeah >< Placeholder for Morion Earring... still suffering from the wallet shattering Sleepga II)

Total: +16 INT and +25 Elemental Skill.

I also use Melon Pie. This means I will be fighting with +20 INT. (My base INT is like 73... I think it will be 74 at 60)

Can I hit Serket, Roc, and ect with spells without waves of resist? Should I stall til I get my Morion Earring and AF Hat(which I am not getting any help for it anytime soon it seems :/ )? I will have +24 INT bonus (w/ Melon Pies) if I get those two pieces. Maybe buy a Black Cape +1 just for HNMs?

(BTW, I DO know 60 is a bit low for HNMs that is why I am only fighting the weaker ones...)

Your nuke resist rates is based primarily on your elemental skill. Int has a miniscual, if any, effect on your resist rate. This means your options for improving resist rate is fairly limited beyond elemental torque and matching elemental staves for your nukes or the most time consuming method...lvling up.

Your +elemental is fine. You just need more levels. You'll gonna get resisted, its a fact of HNMs.

I have +42 elemental skill and get resisted all the time on the God HNMs in Tu'lia. When stuff is 10-15 lvls above you, there isn't enough +ele stuff to bridge the gap.

And as far as making you try out...lol. You have all the ele stuff available at your level. Nothing else you can do. (Get AF hat though) The more blms you have, the faster stuff dies. Same w/ well equipped Rngs w/ a bard.
I'd like to see how any of the even mid 60's melee do compared to low 60's blms. Blm brings the majority of the damage on these things, and does so way earlier than melee as far as at what level.

Just make sure to get the black cloak when you hit 68 and you'll be fine.

That aside, any LS that goes through some sort of performance exam in order to let you in isn't going to be one I'd ever care to join. Friendliness and the ability to work together is much more important in HNM battles than merely how often you get resisted by monsters on spells. Capability has a lot more to do with how you play your character, and what you do to maximize your contribution.

True dat. It seems that from 10-21/22 your parents get dumber and lamer and then they just start getting smarter and cooler every year... Just a fact of life ^^

Those prices were a couple months back and now dark and light are ~125k on Quetz. Luckily I sold them back at 200k while they were crashing and rebought them recently to regain some of my lost money.
