How do these stats stand up as a 34 BLM?

I'm a 34 BLM/WHM, what do you think of these stats? Since I'm not as magically inclined as a Taru, do you think this closes the gap with poor-medium equipped/played Taru BLMs? (Btw I've been told I'm a very good BLM so that's also a factor against poor-medium played Taru BLMs. Lol it's sad when I was actually in a party with 3 other Taru BLMs once in Yhoator and out-Int'd them)

I have +21 Int and around 430 MP (With an Apple Pie which I always uses). I never really run out of MP unless it's Exp chain #3 or more and then I start running on empty.

Some equip I have is black cloak +1, morion tathlum, 2x Eremite's ring, Custom Boots, Custom Pants, Solid Wand, Shaman's belt, 2x Onyx Earrings (nothing I can really put here that's practical yet), Black neckerchief or whatever it is and Silver hairpin.

Then at 40 I get Combat Caster's Cloak which I'm very excited for, that should last me til my AF which will last me til my Black Cloak which will last me till Errant :D

Your equipment confuses me. A Black Cloak is a level 69 tunic; a Black Cloak +1 is a Demon's Cloak. A Black Tunic is a lv20 tunic; a Black Tunic +1 is a Mage's tunic. Sounds like just a bit of confusion on the equipment names. You also listed a hairpin as being used, but if you are using a tunic then you cannot equipment headgear. My BLM uses a tunic so no headpiece. My WHM uses a robe so I use a Haipin +1 for extra MP.

Anyhow, it sounds like you are well equipped. The only thing you could improve upon would be Morion Earrings (~50k each) and possibly your backpiece, which you did not list.

As of lv30, my stats are as follows:
HP 374, MP 377 (+87), STR 23, DEX 36, VIT 27, AGI 35, INT 54 (+19), MND 37 (+9), CHR 26, FIR 3, ICE 3, WND 3, ERT 3, LTG 3, WTR 3, LIT 8, DKN 11. I use Apple Pie +1 which gives +30 MP, +4 INT and "MP recovered while healing +2" (this is all included above).

As of lv34 (which I'm not quite to), my stats will be as follows:
HP 428, MP 445 (+129), STR 26, DEX 41, VIT 31, AGI 38, INT 61 (+23), MND 39 (+9), CHR 29, FIR 3, ICE 3, WND 3, ERT 3, LTG 3, WTR 3, LIT 8, DKN 11. Again, this is with food tallied in.

My equipment is arguably the best possible at my level with the exception of Morion Earring +1 (800k each) and a Variable Ring, which I have not found yet.

The INT difference between us and the Tarus, at lv34, is 7 points. This equates to possibly a small amount of spell accuracy (arguable) and 7 more damage per spell. The Tarus do, however, have a base of 105 more MP. Their RSE is not going to give more MP to them, so that difference is negated somewhat post 31 but they continue to outpace us in the long run. The biggest difference between players is going to be the spells that they have and how they play.

I played with a BLM the other night in a tag-team damage dealing party. We had a Liquefaction skillchain to which I bursted 230 dmg Firaga and they bursted 110 dmg Fire. In that situation, all the +INT in the world can't compensate for their spell deficiencies. Due to my higher INT, spell for spell, I also did 9 more damage.

Your gear is good but i recommend subbing /SAM for the extra TP gain and to bust out more weapon skills! Preferably during the renkei!

First of all, I have NO idea what that moron was talking about since I never have enough TP to do a weapon skill.

Yeah my bad, I meant Black Cape +1.... the back piece that gives +3 INT and some MP. My body piece is a Frost Robe

Well i tried one Morion earring (84k) and was severly disappointed. It amounted to ONE extra damage... so I sold it right back. Maybe long long in the future I'll buy one again but only after I have all my staves.

holy wow...im a blm. lvl 36, i have NO idea how you guys can afford all that!! lol (well, i can, but i certainly dont have the time to get that much gil)...anyways, lemme know what you think of my gear...it certainly isnt as good as you guys's, but here it is...

Upgrade your wand to the +1 version (forget the name...get used to it though. You'll be doing it every few levels all the way until you've bought a Mythic Wand and have elemental staves)

Upgrade your backpeice to Black Cape +1 (it's 30k on midgardsormr, an expensive server, and it lasts you until lv71, or even lv75).

Get a Morion Tathlum (lasts until lv66 and Phantom Tathlum)

As far as body peice goes...I wore Combat Caster until Jaustacorp (same level as AF).

Get a second Eremite Ring.

Get an enhancing earring (forget what level it is). Onyx + enhancing is fine up until lv47 when you can get Moldavite Earring.

Your RSE pants/lshoes are good up until AF.

Belt - any of the belts that add +1 int are good. Mercenary Captain's Belt is my personal favorite, but there are a few other +1 int belts around. They all last until lv66, when you can equip Arachne Obi.

Eremite rings last until lv54 (?) when you get Zircon Rings.


AF hat/body last until lv68 (not lv69) when Black Cloak is available. AF hands last until lv75, or lv73 if you prefer Zenith Mitts (on things that don't resist as much). AF pants last until whenever (lv72 for errant pants imo), and AF shoes last until whenever (lv73 for Zenith Pumps for me)

heres my gear (lvl 52 almost 53 blm) morion tathlium untill 66 (sorry for misspellings), weapon is elemental staves, head is Seers Crown +1 untill AF hat, earrings are Morion earrings (Getting help for the M earring), rings are the lvl 34 rings, untill i can buy the 54 rings then use those untill 72, body is seers untill justacorpse, waste is a +2 int, chr, and Mnd Sash and adds +2 mp/tick, back is black cape+1 i dont know how long i will use it. Legs is seers untill AF, then use AF untill Druid's, and feet is AF which i will use untill 75 most likely..
