Too much Charisma?

I was just wonder is there a such thing as to much Charisma for Beastmaster?

I saw a post, I think on FFXIwikiopedia, where they said not to get a piece of gear because that would be overkill on the CHR. Before reading this post, I was thinking to pile on the CHR for almost garentee Charming my target.

If there is, what would be the general amount?

Re: Too much Charisma?

Hey Losrase I am not a bst but I went through this when I was understanding how to gear a pld with regards of vit. What it means is that there is a point where the stat being any higher will not help anymore for normal activites. I guess you would call it a cap but it really isn't. It is like acc caps at a point to allow a miss chance but that cap depends on the mob. For instance against gods cap is higher then against great colis. So what they meant is that piece while good but it could be used for other pieces that will provide better use. For instance more chr means more chance to charm but if a mob is so hard to charm that you need to over kill your chr then your chances of charming it arent going to raise much for the piece.

Now for the actual cap numbers I really do not know. I never even found out the how much vit is to much in number form. I hope someone can help you with that and I hope my post cleared up that wording for you.

Re: Too much Charisma?

Aim for +40

My usual charm gear is:

Panther Mask, Bird Whistle, Light Staff, Imperial Egg, Kirin's Osode, Hume RSE Gloves, 2x Loyalty Ring, Corsette +1, Luna's Subligar and Volunteer's Nails.

That is if I am about to do something serious, but I rarely do nowadays.

Realistically my charm gear is all of the above minus Volunteer's Nails and Luna's Subligar.

You cannot guarantee charm even with the end of line gear. Because you can still mischarm a level 3 rabbit in West Ronfaure, etc, although rarely. Because of this very fact, it's best to just stack CHR moderately rather than excessively (HQ Angel Ring, HQ +2 CHR Earring, etc). If you play with other BSTs often you'll find that they can charm mobs with no extra CHR while the 10mil or whatever you've put into your gear for loads of CHR you'll still end up screwing up.

There's no such thing as too much CHR, provided you're only equipping it when you use charm =3

Re: Too much Charisma?

From my experience as a 75 Bst, 109 is the magic number. Anything above this and you will seen almost no increase in your ability to charm. Don't forget your Light/Apollo Staff as well (10~15% Increase in charm rate)

Re: Too much Charisma?

I try and get as much Chr as possible with some +charm. I do a lot of fights where I need to charm tough-very tough pets and I’d rather land charm in those dire situations then have a longer lasting pet. Even if there is some type of cap…I can’t imagine going over it would hurt you. I’ve got a pretty solid amount but always looking for that one-up piece.

I think my charm set gives me about +15%, +53chr and +8 charm. There’s still some pieces that im working on getting as well. As a taru bst/whm 70 is my base chr stat iirc. Is all that chr overkill?? Most likely, but until there’s some hard data about a cap, I’m doing what I think is necessary to try and have the highest possible charm success.

I still fail during those ‘omg I need a pet’ moments…Just not as often.

I’m only decking out 2 jobs so I have plenty of inv. space for my 4 Bst sets (Melee, Reward, Charm and Pet +).

I am level 68 with 36chr + Apollo Staff + 4 Charm. For a total of 38chr + 15% charm status + 4 charm. It looks like I am doing ok for now.

Re: Too much Charisma?

Here is a link to my FFXIAH Gear set for Bst charming. My base as a Galka Bst/Whm is 62 Chr, the +47 sits me right @ 109 w/ Charm+11.

Re: Too much Charisma?

Just looking for Chr set? i currently use...

Apollo’s Staff (15%, +2 Chr)
Panther Mask (+5)
Bird Whistle (+3)
Melody Earring +1 (+2)
Beastly Earring (+2)
Kirin’s Osode (+10)
Trainers Gloves (+5)
Angel’s Rings x2 (+8)
Corsette +1 (+6)
AF legs+1 (+6?)
Syparic nails (+4)
Tuna sushi (+6?)

I lied about +8 charm, i think its actually +6. BUT I’m very close to getting AF feet+1 which adds a couple..along with an extra chr point. I still want Imp/Tzar egg, could probably throw that Chr grip…heavens rings if I could ever afford them…
