Anwig Salade

So what augments would you choose?

My thoughts are:

1st choice
(For other melee jobs + Better pet tank...kind of a suedo Optical Hat)
-Acc+10 and Atk+5
-Atk+3 and Pet dmg -10% (I thinking this is the best argument for BST since this works for physical and Magical damage)

2nd choice
(For multi-hit WS for all melee + Better pet tank)
-STR+4 and Weaponskill acc+15 (awsome for rampages alone)
-Atk+3 and Pet dmg -10%

3rd choice
(A pure BST Pet Tank)
-Atk+3 and Pet +5% haste
-Atk+3 and Pet dmg -10%

4th choice
(A BST for melee burn and non-solo NM fights + any other melee job?)
-Acc+10 and Atk+5
-STR+4 and Weaponskill acc+15

Any thoughts or better combinations?

Re: Anwig Salade

I'm not a BST but I'm a bit dubious about the utility of #3 over #1. I could see it being marginally useful for soloing, but not as much in a group setting where you might want to Snarl to a jug pet.

Re: Anwig Salade

I second Armando on that one but I am not a bst either but the overall gear that effect pets seem to be overall garbage pieces that will end up hurting so three might be useful. Do you use a Hauberk when in a party or group setting. Because if you already have an optical hat or were going to get one any way then the option three might suit you when you want your pet to take damage to give the tank a rest or maybe give some opening time for the whm and the tank to prep up before full engagement.

I'd personally go with #3.

Re: Anwig Salade

Are we talking strictly for BST's? Or any other melee what can equip it? If its the latter then heres my choice, which would be for my BLU mainly:

-STR+4 and Weaponskill acc+15
-Acc+10 and Atk+5

Which I would macro in for my CAWS's and such. Other than that, I can't think of anything since my other 75's already have great gear for their head slot.

#3 all the way and it's not even close. You guys do mostly solo or BST parties, right?

Tch. I thought this was about a new food/jug item.

Oh well, I'd pick option 1 for BST and 4 for everything else.

Re: Anwig Salade

Im going -10 pet damage for sure. but im torn between Pet: Crits or Pet: Haste

I was thinking of going with
Atk+3, Pet: -10% damage
And
Atk+3, Pet: Crit +3%

Pets can crit pretty high and I was always under the impression Haste isn’t that impressive unless your around 15% or more.
Especially if you’re fighting something where you’re pet doesn’t last very long.

Strictly speaking, Haste is always superior to Critical Hit Rate. And there's more Haste available than Critical Hit Rate on that gear for your Pet.

And minor correction on your post, but both Haste and Critical Hit Rate come with Accuracy+3, not Attack+3.

Haste starts to see better returns past 15% but Haste always improves your performance by AT LEAST the % listed. Crits, on the other hand, always improve your performance by less than the indicated number unless your Attack is drastically low.

It's no contest anyways. Crits don't help you build TP.

Re: Anwig Salade

The pet haste is worthless because you just can't get enough of it on them (unless you're a PUP with a turbo charger, then it's absolutely worth it but this is a BST thread)

I'd go with Option 1 or 2. 4 STR and 15 WS accuracy is godly and can be used on multiple jobs while still specializing for BST. Besides, if you're soloing wouldn't O Hat be better for when you start taking the heat? Or W. Turban for TP/shadows.

EDIT: Just want to reinforce that PUP is the only job with any business taking pet haste from these mini-expansion armors and even then it still fails compared to the other pet buffs. Though I admit it would be interesting to see an automaton hit the haste cap...
