How is BST after the latest update? I know that lv sync is kina sucks for beasts, but what about the exp? Is exp any better by fighting waves upon waves of weaker mobs as opposed to our usual death matches (emphasis on death) against T’s?



I really want to play my bst again, I’m still 45 and it just takes so damn long to lv on T’s lol.

Why would you want to level on EP or DC? You'd never get axe skill-ups just level syncing or killing EP/DC all the time...

Well, my axe is capped from having WAR to 75 so it's just fine with me :3


It's really nice being able to charm an EM pet and maul EP/DC all day.

If EM/T mob is annoying/long to kill then it's better to kill waves of EP/DC mob with a DC/EM pet.

Good example is charming a tiger or leech in wajoam and going on rampage. 1 tiger/leech can go through like 5-7 bees/colibris before giving in. I do this at 75 on all my jobs to get a small buffer when I'm bored and don't want to the pressures of EXPing seriously (DC/EM vs T+ situation).

It serves as a good "gap" filler, i.e. when I want to actually EXP but can't either because:

1. Party at intended camp.
2. BST at intended camp.
3. You're feeling shit and just want something a bit more relaxing.

I know killing EPs and DCs in the twenties is great now. They only take a few seconds to kill. Just take out a Courier Carrie and mow down those EPs/DCs for 60-90 exp each!

CC isn't really necessary at level 20 >.> You're probably better off using CrabFamiliar as its much cheaper and isn't capped yet.

Might be even better if you can find a good EM mob to charm, as charmed pets are *usually* better than jugs.

Indeed, but when they turn on you and rape you mid battle it kinda sucks...

At 23 I highly recommend Rabbit Jug pets. Their offense power is way superior to CC/Crab Familiars. Plus they won't suddenly turn on you and eat you.

Buy them from Chocobo Vendors. They're really cheap and I recall from my young amateur BST says that even at 23/24 they can Double Attack (which is why I high recommend them, because the sight of it double attacking and half of the mob's HP disappearing really stuck in my mind at the time).

EDIT: Or cook the Rabbit Jug Pets.

4 x San d'Orian Carrot + 1 Water Crystal.

You can cook them even at Level 0 cooking, as the recipe is a Level 3 recipe. The carrots are easily brought in Sand'oria if you're from there, but if not, you may be better off purchasing it from the NPC.

Humm, well you guys mentioned high and low lv bsting, so it might work. I'm just tired of these long ass epic fights. My axe skill isn't capped, but everything else is. I can just vary it more i guess now if i take on waves of harder mobs. Now i get to lv where i used to 3 lvs ago and do my most hated lv spots again, joy

Carrots cost 28 gil each at the lowest according to FFXIClopedia, and the broth costs 93 at most. Unless your cooking's high enough to HQ, or you're using this to skill it up, it's better to just buy broths regardless.

LadyKiKi's suggestion is a great idea considering how usefull cooking is for a Bst.
Even if they are low level cooks it's a good idea to start that craft if you intend to go the whole way with Bst.

Making jugs, foods etc..

Personally I can't see anything bad about it. Plus the Hare familiar jug is one of the first recipe's in most of the guides. For me I didn't have many breakages and I had alot of jugs which have certainly been usefull even for me at 45 now.

How so? I haven't been able to log on since before the patch but I plan on duoing with someone who has BST in the 50s via level sync.

Enjoy super fast EXP
get to level 71.
Kill said person at 71 back to 68
Repeat.

Even if your buddy is useless the quick and easy EXP makes up for the slight split.

Plus if your 68 buddy is a dual account, you both benefit off imperial standing.... make cash....

However, this is pending that there are no other BSTs at that camp.

Or, go camp on top of them. Most will camp on top of you anyway because all civilisation goes out the window at that camp.

I'm 1 level from that camp too on DRK! hahahaha. This will be fun. (I do have an alternative that I hide myself in if <retard(s)> do take all the colibri.

You should give the lvling guide to the past a try. I have leveld my bst completely in the past since 35 and I just dinged 50 today. the camps are alway empty, and I can go through T's with hardly any problems. In the past the Mobs are a little bit stronger and it is easy for a DC to take a T with you fighting with it. I have found no problems with my pet keeping hate and me fighting along side it. You can still chain off of EM's and just for exp when you cant find Ts just beat up on DC's with DC's as pets and you will get at least a 100xp for them.

Was there every any good camps found in the past for higher levels? WotG didn't come out until my BST was 70ish, and I remember not being able to find any (other than pashhow rocking for campaign on BST).

I checked yesterday afternoon and there was still no update past 55 which from 51 to 55 the guide suggested lvling off of fortifications.
