So how exactly do they work? Do you just get one and re-use the same one over and over again or do you have to buy new ones everytime, and what does the skill up mean for jugs? Please and thank you

Jugs work like ammo. When you use Call Beast, it consumes the jug you have equipped.

The only skill associated with jugs are for crafting skills used to make them. There is no combat or job based skill related to actually using them as BST.

There are gear/merits that enhances the pet called by "Call Beast". Monster Gloves is the gear, with 2-3 other pieces which enhances a the pet's defense. Beast Affinity (merit) ups the level it is called at.

Certain pets/jugs have level caps. Like Funguar pets have a cap of 65. Normal crabs are 55. CourierCarrie is 75. And a few others. Look up "Call Beast" on wiki

I would imagine they work pretty much like everyone else's "jugs"...
