Unhappy BST- Losing fate and dreaded LvL 59

I just returned to this game after taking a 3+ year break and hit lvl 59 a few months ago on BST/WHM, and just got upset of the lack of places to lvl. The only feasible place seem to be ugredied range (Or whatever its called) full of bunnys, tigers, snolls and buffalo(?). However the place is so borrrring, most of the bombs are just T's, they dont self-destruct like they used to back when i first started playing. Matter of fact they RARELY S-D, is this a change made by SE recently. I remembered Self Destruct being on the top of their TP moves, dont even recall them using beserk at all. Snolls have all kinds of TP moves so they're even worst than the normal bombs.

I'm just losing my mind, I want to lvl BST so bad, I ended up taking Drg from 43-60 within the past month or so just from being bored trying to get to 60 on BST. I love Drg too but I honestly dont plan to go any further with it for now at least. I mainly just wanted to full AF mainly the helm actually so I can solo more efficiently. I love solo jobs, I'm just not certain I want to continue at this point. I hardly see or hear of any BST doing endgame stuff. I talked to my friend in LS, she says her Dynamis LS will never allow her to come as BST since they know she has a RDM. Is this really the state of BST now? Also what are alternatives at lvl 59. I don't have tamorai canal access, but I love zones like B. Obliette ... no one around, jellys, bats, undead etc. There has to be some WotG zones available and its probably too early to try Ifrit's cauldron

Re: BST- Losing fate and dreaded LvL 59

One place I went to when I was that level was Quicksand Caves. Find a BST your level and go to Western Altepa Desserts southern most entrance to QSC. Charm EM and DC lizards there and have them attack Anitcans. Seem to remember the exp being very good. PLD Ants can be a pain if they spam cures. It is possible solo spot too but two Lizs and two BST make it faster by far.
There are some real grinder levels for BST. I remember a couple times were exp wasn't too hot, but I was still a fuzz too low to go to the next spot. I dealt with those levels by finding mobs that I could farm off of that gave some exp, campaign at times for a change of scenery, campaign ops, repeatable exp scroll quest you can do once a week for a exp boost, or helping out lower level players that needed things dead (Coffer Key mobs). None of those are by any means fast exp, but they add up quick if you are having fun.

Re: BST- Losing fate and dreaded LvL 59

Relax.

At 59 go to:

Toramai Canal

On the map with the Windurst Wall Exit, there's a camp on the bottom right handside of the map. I gone through that camp on NIN RDM THF DRK PLD.

Good place for 59-61, pugils vs crabs

At F-10 is a massive room full of crabs and pugils. Use them to level up. I stop there at 61 and move to the tree. If you're aggresive 1 pugil will take out a crab with your help, otherwise you need to use 2 pugils. Depends on your playstyle.

Bring reraises, as no one will raise you in that shit hole. Otherwise, it takes 1 sneak oil to get to the camp from the Windurst Walls Entrance (a series of quests is needed to get into there, or you need 3 mages to help you from the other entrance).

And don't lose your mind. If I was like you I'd not have got to where I am now. Trust me on my information

Battles can be somewhat slow there though, crabs are quite annoying to kill due to their resistant to pain . . . .

And just incase you think otherwise:

NOTE: Ignore my gear choices. I simply choose to surpress myself to not die. And these screenshots are recent (3-4 days ago). DRK is my current "project".

And yes, I'm not BST to any event. I'm PLD usually. Unfortunately that is the case for now, hopefully something will change soon, but that's one big hope.

If you want more info/advice feel free to make a topic here. I'll see to it.

EDIT: No disturbances there from me 99% of the time. At one point some retarded person decided to level his NPC there, RIGHT THERE, IN "MY" ROOM.... despite there being 1000+ mobs elsewhere around the zone. He had to be... THERE. Otherwise it's not too bad. Gets kinda lonely there. And watch out for the undead.

Is there a way to get there solo without being a Citizen of Windurst(Getting the key to open the door from a quest)?

Re: BST- Losing fate and dreaded LvL 59

So what would be your opinion... Seeing as how you've leveled both BST and DRG. I'm torn between which one I want to take to 75 first. On BST I can easily take VT-T++ mobs, chaining consistantly watching high xps' flow depending on camps.

On DRG especially now that I hit lvl 60, I can tackle T++ at the highest, usually limited on mobs that I can speed through (Bats, Flys, Beetles to some extent) but I for some odd reason I move at a much higher xp rate on DRG, considering polearm hits so hard and pentathrust just completely puts the icening on the cake. I know you're gonna say its up to me and whatever I feel my playstyle mesh best with, but I'm just thinking about whats gonna happen when I hit 75. At least on DRG I can go to ANY area and be relatively well off battling mobs, however on BST I'm limited to Jugs and hopefully area with charmable mobs. I don't know... perhaps im thinking too much

Yeah, thanks malacite I've noticed you like doing that, good for you. Considering thats primarily the guide I use-- I came here mainly asking for advice, perhaps some other area not on that guide. 'Preciate the reply LadyK, I think I remember you from 3yrs+ ago answering BST questions I had when you were in the early 70s, nice to see you still around helping people out.

But, you need to complete all the quests chain to it BEFORE you can do it. Either way it's slightly a pain, slightly.

And do BST first, Regasis. It's easier to... gear.

If you don't have any other 75 then bst, then most shells will let you go bst. Unless they are full and can replace you with any other dd job. I have done dynamis and Einjahrer as bst and no one has complained yet.

Re: BST- Losing fate and dreaded LvL 59

*Update* So it's been a month since I made this topic, in this timeframe I've leveled up monk from 1-46 as a side party job when i get bored (Haven't gotten bored yet ><). I gotta say Monk is pure kickass. I've also managed to slowly get my BST up from 59 to 62. I didn't bother goin' through the rigorous T.Canal quest chain (geez), got some AF along the way etc. Spent about an hour last night, exploring C.Mire for camps and managed to knock out over 2.5k xp in a 30 min span spent avoiding/searching for those damnned chigoes (Actually killed some for chains, praying me or my pet don't get a crit on them), sending saplings on birds, learning to just leave the flytraps alone cause they're annoying etcc. Overall I can't wait to get home and actually put on Sanction and get to level out here, things are so much smoother now compared to back in the late 50s'

Re: BST- Losing fate and dreaded LvL 59

Keep it up.

Now that you're 62, use the WEST exit from Nashmau. There's 4 saplings out there, levels 61-63. Use those and rape the birds. Rape. Chigoe free too.

62-65~ there will go so fast for you. Don't give up.
