A few call beast questions
1) Are the duration charts on wiki reflective of the update? (i.e. even after the update C.C. is still only 30 min?)

2) Is meriting Beast Affinity necessary to get C.C. up to 75, or is that for pushing the caps of the uncapped jugs?

3) If I go farming, say for Gigas in Miseraux Coast or Wild Karakul in Caedarva Mire, am I better off to bring a stack of C.C. or charm the strongest local mob ?

(1) Courrier Carrier is still a 30 minute jug. If you see Saber Sivardre and Keeneared Steffi listed as 90, I think its safe to day say the list is up-to-date

(2) CC caps at your level. Meritting Beast Affinity affects all just save for the ones that originally capped with you at 75.

(3) Gigas in MC anything will work, I'd actually go with Steffies there, easy to HQ and last longer, Gigas up there aren't that tough. Karakuls you may wish to bring CCs for if nothing else is charmable nearby, but I usually see BSTs using them, really. Karakuls are really the strongest thing you can charm in mire near Karakuls aside from oil slicks and some higher tier saplings.

Re: A few call beast questions
1) I can't remember if the charts have been corrected or not. I remember looking some time ago, but I don't remember. I'm pretty sure that CC is still 30 minutes though.

2) I'm not at merit lvl yet, but I seem to recall reading that all jugs called are a level or 2 below your current level unless it's a capped jug. I seem to remember that BA also raises the cap on capped jugs, such as fungars, to give them a bit more DD capability. I'd planned on worrying about that in a couple of levels, but now you've got me thinking about it and I'm going to have to look it up when I get home.

3)Situational. I think it really depends on what/why you are farming, the area that you are farming in, the availability of mobs in the area(and their relative position on the map to your target mob), and how well certain mobs hold up against your target prey. Seeing as this is my first job on the way to 75, I'm always watching the bank account. If I can hot swap pets and not take an extreme beating, then I'll use the local's as pets, provided that they aren't resistant to charm. Just to be safe, I carry a stack of CC's on me when I'm out farming. I've had instances in the past where I'd be getting my butt kicked standing around waiting for my brand new pet to actually hit my target mob and take hate. Dropping the current(useless) pet in favor of a jug that can take hate and I can snarl onto has saved me on several occassions.

Doesn't this really say it all? ><

Re: A few call beast questions
1) List is accurate.

2) Jugs like C.C seem to pop 0-3 lvls below the Beastmaster. Cap jug pets will have their capped raise by B.A so a 60 jug with max B.A will pop spawn at 70.

3) Gigas farming is dependent on your bst. If your around there lvl then use the mobs there. If your running around at 75 then use the HQ rabbits. No clue on #2 since I never cared to hang out there.

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

Re: A few call beast questions
Wouldn't the slicks be better though, since they are so freaking resistant to physical dmg?

They're rather charm resistant.

I second that. And it's not just the usual Slime charm resistance. These seem to go above and beyond.

I leveled in the late 60s in a duo, using Oil Slick against Jnuns. My charm success rate was probably around 50%, even with Apollo's Staff. It was fairly common to experience charm failures twice in a row, and sometimes even 3 or 4 times in a row.

Re: A few call beast questions
Okay last question (I hope )

What jug pets have the highest offense? (and are reasonably priced/aren't a bitch to synth) This applies both to PT and farming.

That HQ Diremate is probably THE best, and costs about 10k now thanks to easier synths.

Otherwise, if fully capped on Beast Affinity, go for HQ Tigers or Funguars.

If you're farming karakuls, it's kinda difficult due to chigoes spawning I think? So becareful.

That's why I hold back TP for them. I looked at some of the pets on the wiki, and I can HQ Lifedrinker somewhat on my taru (95 skill, 63 synth) but is it worth it, or should I just buy the jugs?

EDIT: Where are these HQ Funguar you speak of?

Category:Familiars - FFXIclopedia - a Wikia Gaming wiki

I see Tiger but no HQ funguar listed.

There is no HQ Funguar. She didn't mean for the "HQ" to also apply to Funguar in her list.

Re: A few call beast questions
On my server Lars is 60k a stack IF its available. If you can get someone to craft it for you, you're better off doing that (assuming availablilty is same on you server). Even though HQs aren't too common, you can usually make any gil back you used buying the ingrediants, I usually offer a complimentary stack or two of NQ Mite, as they go for 12k each on my server and you end up with a lot just off of one stack of ingrediants.

Re: A few call beast questions
At 75 you can charm spongzilla flies and 2hr them for farming a short while. They are the highest charmable mob in the mire. Just that they range from t-vt at 75.
